My mother-in-law had already forgotten virtually all her Plattdeutsch 20 years ago. So I've never heard it spoken. Is it still a living dialect in Germany?

Where I live the public school population is a little over 50% African-American although the city itself probably has a minority population of between 25% and 30%. The gangs are in a terrible state, as the quality of the public schools has went down, so has the effectiveness of African-American gangs. I am looking for the gangs to file a suit against the school system for not providing an education.There are few Hispanics, Asians, or Russians in my communities, but from what I understand there criminal gangs or very formidable. There was a nearly 16 year old African-American seventh grader who shot himself in the foot while he was in his back yard. Uneducable in school, untrainable for gang work, I think Cosby has something.
Sure, it is to be found in some of the rural parts of Schlewig-Holstein. Many parents make a concerted effort to teach it to their children. Not sure whether or not there are Vereins, but my guess is that there are.
By the way, I am happy to correspond in German with you privately, but IMHO it is rude to the others to write German on an English language Forum like FR.

I'd like to add that Cosby is hilarious if you've ever seen his stand up act. He put on a free show for all the students here at Baylor to help us deal with the recent scandals and troubles facing our school.

First of all, to equate comments by Bill Cosby with those of Newt Gingrich is an irresponsible stretch. Criticism of a race by a member of that race is acceptable. It would have been unacceptable for Cosby to make those comments if he directed tham to a group of whites.
As an educated black man I applaud Cosby for having the courage to say what Mfume and the rest of the liberal black "leadership" should have been saying all along. If I'm late to work, or don't pay attention to my job as I should I'll get fired and that doesn't have a thing to do with race.
Kudos to Bill Cosby. May we as a race wake up and pay attention to the words of a wise man who has made it in "white America."
I did no such thing. I asked the question "what if he said this?" It's legitimate. My issue around that question has nothing to do with Mr Cosby or what he said, which I completely agreed with.
My issue is around how the media-networks treat conservatives. Hopefully I don't need to elaborate more on that.
