Right ON! He has this right! If the African-American wants to advance he's got to join the main stream. This goes for poor white's in the hills of Alabama and Mexicans in El Paso too. You gots to learn English ifin' you wants ta git ahead in this here country.
The irony is that at some point in the furure, the young black will be denied a job because he can't speak Spanish.
My In-Laws have a black family as next-door neighbors, the kids have since grown up, moved out, married and had their own children, leaving the grandma there. I was chatting with a couple of the older siblings recently and they were whining about their children. They're well-off middle-class and have everything they could want. But the younger ones insist on adopting the mannerisms and speech of ghetto kids, and they try to hide their middle-class upbringing. This infuriates their parents. They say they didn't raise them right only to see them progress backwards. And they blame it on other blacks.
