Wow. I had no idea Bill Cosby was so conservative (i.e. truth-speaking.) No wonder the NAACP people were choking after they heard his speech.

It really is a signficant problem for black children, though. Many speak a distinct dialect and aren't exposed to "the Queen's English" until school, at which point it's like a second language to them.

"It's not really hard to speak English correct(ly), they just don't want to."

True for many; others don't even make the choice; rap. . .other influences make this appear desireable. . .and 'normal for Blacks'.

When you have a group who makes the choice to keep themselves culturually 'dumbed down; it surely makes things easier for the Democrat reps out there.

If this keeps up; Democrats in Congress will only be needed a precautionary measure.

His eyes finally opened to the truth.

We shovel money currency into education then ever before and we rank, what 14th in the world. Parents today are more worried over what their new car is going to be then if their child can read or write.

Thank God someone finally took the opportunity to use free speech and make an observation that even the ebonically gifted idiots of of society, like Al Sharpton, can't deny.If you can't speak the language you've assilimated yourself outside the culture. I'm glad Cosby had the balls to state the obvious.

It's easy for a man to judge a culture that he's obviously forgotten about. Just like we wear our hats crooked, white adolescents do the same thing. It is just as many white individuals who do exactly what Mr. Cosby is speaking of but for some reason, our community is the community being ridiculed. It's okay to have an opinion, but to point out an entire class of citizens as a whole is wrong. I am one of those lower class black people that Bill talked about and I do not fit into that category, nor does anyone I know. I speak English, just like you and all other individuals in our nation. However, it's what Mr. Cosby disagrees with that white people are taking and making money off of. He was not born into this world a rich man and I'm pretty sure he spoke the slang that we speak today, so what gives him the right to judge me and my people for doing the same. Our struggles are not self-inflicted, they were forced upon us. And yes, his act was an "Uncle Tom" act.

I will assume that you are kidding... Genetic? Language patterns are cultural/learned, not genetic. If they were, there would be no need to actually LEARN the language, youm would already have it. it would mean that we should still be able to produce the silibant clicks so often found in African languages.

Communication through either verbal or written means is one of the most important qualities a person could have. What Mr. Cosby said doesn't just apply to Blacks, young or old, but to every single person on Earth. If we can not effectively communicate, we have lost all.

Is he really going off like that? When that "jive talk" helped get him where he is today. What was he doing in Uptown Saturday Night? Talking that talk. Now I know that there is a time and a place for everything. Job interview, no! Street corner, if you feel like it do it. Who cares about what is going on there. As long as no one is get hurt in anyway. What is the problem?
