Developing...
No story yet, but I think it's a great idea. He MUST get in front of America more often, and show everyone that he's fully in charge... and please, PLEASE no more apologies... NO more DEFENSE either.
He's going to give a speech a week as we move toward handing power over to the Iraqis.
He's got the bully pulpit at his disposal, he needs to use it as often as possible to help neutralize the lib media...
Just as long as he doesn't have to answer any questions or do any sort of improvising he should be fine.
That would be FANTASTIC! It would be GREAT if he could also sprinkle a few words about the roaring economy while he's at it... Saying something like... terrorism affects lives, it affects our wonderful economy, which is firing on all cylinders, then go into some of the stats....
Yes - he better get the truth out himself - and PLEASE no apologizing or groveling.
It would be great if he had a bombshell of an announcement to make but I'm expecting not.
My prediction: after two consecutive weeks of that, the media will declare it a campaign speech and refuse to cover it.

Exactly. It'll be relegated to the cable news outlets.
US President George W. Bush (news - web sites) will use a prime-time speech to brace Americans for more violence in Iraq (news - web sites) and lay out a "clear strategy" for that country's future, the White House said.
In an 8:00 pm (0001 GMT Tuesday) address from the US Army War College, Bush will say that US-led efforts "are approaching a pivotal phase, as we approach the June 30 transfer of sovereignty in Iraq," said spokesman Trent Duffy.
The rising death toll among US troops, which has clouded Iraq's political future, threatens to exact a political price on Bush, whose approval ratings have slumped some five months before the November 2 elections.
The president and other top officials have also been trying to contain the damage from the scandal over abused detainees at the US-run Abu Ghraib prison, which has drawn a global outcry and anger in the Muslim world. "The will and character of America are being tested," Bush told graduating students at Louisiana State University here.
"We're at war with enemies that have many destructive ambitions and one overriding goal: They want to spread their ideology of hatred by forcing America to retreat from the world, in weakness and fear," he said.
"Yet they're finding that Americans are not the running kind. When this country makes a commitment, we see it through," said Bush, who will travel to Carlisle, Pennsylvania, to deliver his Monday address.
The White House did not ask major US television networks to broadcast the speech, and Bush was not expected to detail the specifics of who will take power in Iraq on June 30.
"The president looks forward, on Monday evening, to discussing with the American people and with a global audience a clear strategy on how we need to move forward," Duffy said as Bush traveled here.
The president will discuss Iraqi security, the transfer of power in Iraq, efforts to improve humanitarian conditions and the civil infrastructure, and efforts to secure broader global support for stabilizing Iraq and building democracy there, said Duffy.
"He realizes, as well as most Americans do, that we have difficult challenges ahead, that the enemies and foes of freedom in Iraq will do anything to stop the progress, but that our resolve is firm and that the transfer of sovereignty will take place on June 30," said Duffy.
I hope he lists the good things we have accomplished for the Iraqis, the unabridged list, and asks why the Democrats are so upset about it. Don't they support Iraqi girls going to school for the first time in a decade? Don't they like women having rights? Don't they like women in the government? Don't they like them having food, good drinking water and electricity? Just what is it that drives the democrats and our 'so-called' western allies crazy about having a thriving self-determining, respectable republic in the middle-east?
Well Johh, Ted, Tom, Nancy? Speak up!
EXACTLY! That would be awesome.
Heard a news item in North Carolina today that discussed the increasing number of jobs in the State which resulted from the job training programs and CORPORATE incentives offered as programs of the Democratic Governor.
Even Conservative news outlets let this stuff through even though tax cuts have worked everytime they have been tried.
You're probably right. They'll run wall-to-wall negative stories on the nightly news tellng us "The President has no plan in Iraq," but they won't carry the speeches where the plans are outlined. And if they do carry the speeches, they'll have their damned doom-'n-gloom "experts" on immediately afterward to spin them negatively for us.
Exactly. None of the Alphabet Networks will cover it.
Dad went up on the roof two weeks ago and attempted to install a new larger Directv dish. We have been on Network tv ever since. Thank God for live threads on FR!!!
I hope he announces that we caught OBL this week and it took 3 days to positively identify him.
Disagree. No positive bombshells until October, please.
