I understand that in many school districts (NYC included), Mohammedan children are released for their "prayer time" and use school facilities for these activities.

No, it won't be part of history....remember, they don't teach history anymore. Just the distorted view of America as the "racist, sexist, homophobic, greedy white scum.

Their arguments are indeed bad. This is simply a case of being good neighbors, but the Muslims don't want to do that.

But I have to admit I get a bit of perverse pleasure in seeing Christians find out what it's like to be on the other end of in-your-face religion. I doubt it'll happen, but maybe they'll come out of this remembering that not everyone is Christian.

The insanity reaches a fevered pitch.

A moslem call to prayer is a summons to the koran's instructions to kill Christians and Jews.

How stupid are we?

Perverse pleasure is your thing, then? That explains a lot.

If this is allowed, there shouid be competing microphones shouting "Allahu Fubar!" at the same time. Make the jihadists want to go back to their respective jihadistans.

You, obviously, have never lived in a Muslim country. Go live in one for a while and then come back and instruct the rest of us....

It smacks of intolerance because of the reasoning behind it. They think church bells are OK because they are pretty but if it's foreign to them they don't want to hear it. IF it's too loud, then I wouldn't want to hear it either. But I'm not going to say I don;t want to hear because I don't believe what they say. I'll say I don't want to hear it because it's too loud. I have heard the call to prayer, and since I don't speak Arabic, it means nothing to me.

The FCC issues low-power broadcast licenses which are specifically intended for this sort of thing. Most licensees are religious organizations.

Surely, a call to prayer using electromagnetic waves instead of pneumatics is equivalent in the eyes of Allah?

When all the infidels are slaves, or more likely Berg/Pearls, I'm sure you'll be chuckling.. Hoping you'll be last last to go. Or perhaps, you've already submitted.

If they don't know by now, after years of praying to Allah, when to pray, they need to give it up.

Set your own alarm clocks if you are too stupid to know what time prayer is.

Yeah. I have a friend who spent some time working over there back in the 70's and he said it got so bad he went berserk one early morning. He just couldn't take it anymore. I can't imagine listening to that several times a day. Even if it was innocuous, I wouldn't like it, but to know what they are saying makes it so much worse.

"It smacks of intolerance because of the reasoning behind it."

You really did get a good brainwashing in college, didn't you. Intolerance is the mantra of the left....it's only TOLERABLE if we, the left, tolerate it....anything WE do not tolerate is INTOLERABLE....right? I really hope you are young and can educate yourself.

Yes, they are. In some schools they use the auditorium.

But since the Christian religion is so accomodating, no accomodation is ever made for them.

You wrote: "It sounds like you think that local determination of noise ordinances are improper."

I replied: "If the call is so loud that it violates the city's noise ordinance, then I agree that it should not be broadcast."

Your wrote: "Second, how is the Muslim freedom of religion violated by the government because local people object to the wailing moans coming out of those loudspeakers?" and "Third, how does this impact on the government regulation of free speech?"

I replied: "It violates freedom of religion and speech in that those who oppose based on those types of arguments (it's not my religion arguments) want the city to disallow the call based on those arguments, not on the noise issue."

Keeping in mind that this kid just joined up a few days ago. I am highly suspicious, so to speak...
