the French spit on and desecrate American graves

I heard a story on radio the other day that when de Gaulle was pulling out of NATO and wanted the Americans out, LBJ told
Sec o' State Rusk to ask de Gaulle if that included the graves.

Rusk hemmed and hawed and said he couldn't ask de Gaulle that. LBJ ordered him to do so. de Gaulle, in the meeting with
Rusk, closed his materials, stood up, and left without a word.

I was just going to post that. It was truly LBJ's finest moment.
