WASHINGTON -- Angered by Bush administration policies they contend endanger national security, 26 retired U.S. diplomats and military officers are urging Americans to vote President Bush out of office in November.
The group, which calls itself Diplomats and Military Commanders for Change, does not explicitly endorse Democrat John Kerry for president in its campaign, which will start officially Wednesday at a Washington news conference.
The Bush-Cheney campaign said Sunday it would have no response until the group formally issues its statement at the news conference.
Among the group are 20 ambassadors, appointed by both Democratic and Republican presidents, other former State Department officials and military leaders whose careers span three decades.

Now they have something to counter the fact that nearly all of Kerry's Military Commanders came out against him being elected President.

No, American President, no world leader has done MORE to fight AIDS than President Bush.
And I guess they're upset over the Middle East because Bush is seen as such a freind to Israel?
Their grievances sound like a bunch of leftist talking points and nothing more.
No western country has the resources to immunize itself from terrorists. By that I mean they cannot afford financially to secure everything that would have to be secured in order to make it safe. Any reasonably intelligent person would arrive at that conclusion pretty early on.
So what is at stake is in fact all of western civilization, as we know it.
So just what can the west do to combat this latest threat? What it must do: identify the source of the threat and eliminate it.
The type of operations involved are not particularly expensice, dollar wise. To the extent that other western nations wake up and realise that they are next, we will have a sharing in the human and financial costs of this war. Also, there is no other country on this planet that is better prepared to execute an operation of this type. I would not want to be one of the terrorists on Uncle Sam's hit list.

Some of these, including Crowe, were early supporters of Clinton (and were correspondingly rewarded, as Crowe being made ambassador to Great Britian.)
To evaluate their insight and perception, consider national security and defense under Clinton - the sum total of which directly led to 9/11.
The very first "national defense" measure of Clinton was to attempt to force the U.S. Armed Forces to accept open gays - you undoubtedly recall the immediate fire-storm over this perfidious attempt (fire-storm from those other than Crowe and company).
The people who supported Clinton and now Kerry are not those whom we would want to entrust our lives to. Many, many of the very best military people, as well as the international specialists, will openly support Bush.
