"No resident should be forced to pay higher taxes until we limit the amount state government can spend," said Sen. Leonard Lance, R-Hunterdon.

The state budget also includes a plan to borrow $1.9 billion to pay operating costs. Republicans filed a lawsuit to challenge the borrowing on the grounds that it violates the legal requirement for a balanced budget.

It's good to see there are Republicans in the Garden State with some backbone.

Tough break for Springsteen and Bon Jovi with the millionaires tax.

NJ is unbelievable.

The math works out to a tax increase of $28,571.43 per person, over and above whatever they paid last year!!

I live in PA and compared notes on property taxes with a co-worker who lives in NJ and they are killing you guys on that too. His property tax was approx. 3 times mine.

Only a democrat could have proposed a "millionares tax" and include those who make less than 1 million.

Truth be known (and this is a guess on my part) there are probably more people in the 500K - 1 mil range than above 1 mil ...

So, in other words, McGoofy acts as though the "rich" people took something away from the lower and middle classes in the first place?
