There is no Republican or Democratic position on the issue, and so very few people are wedded to a party position. Minds are open to us if we talk in terms of a better life for one's children.

I don't know about all that. There are no party positions because the existence of public schools isn't really on the political radar yet.

If it ever does become an issue, the educational establishment would put a lot of pressure on the Democrats to oppose it. The Dems would fight privitization tooth and nail, like they do with SS. They'd also use scare tactics and lies on the public, convincing them that those favoring educational freedom are out to make America's kids poor and uneducated.

Here's my question for the "Hate America" bunch:

Is it the Government you hate or is it the People?

Seeing as how these people seem to love and believe in big government, it would appear that they hate their neighbors.

Harry Browne is a fruit cake but he hits the nail here on this issue, as do most Libertarians.

If these people would get away from the drug war issue and open borders, and focus on education, taxes, and limited government, then people would take them seriously.

What is the worst step that's been taken on the road to American serfdom?

The worst steps were the non-Liberals (including Conservatives...) who allowed the Left to almost totally dominate academia, the legal profession, the courts, big government/bureaucracy, labor, entertainment, etc. If Conservatives dominated big government (instead of running away from it a crying about it) and then practice what they preach, then big government would shrink from within. Remaining on the outside (bitching and moaning) isn't working. Yes? No?
