Elizabeth Edwards Defends Whoopi Raunchfest

The wife of vice presidential hopeful John Edwards is defending Whoopi Goldberg after the potty-mouthed comedienne attacked President Bush with an X-rated monologue at Thursday night's Kerry-Edwards fundraiser in New York.

Rejecting calls for her husband's campaign to apologize for Goldberg's outburst, Mrs. Edwards said Friday that the anti-Bush tirade was justified.

"A lot of people are going to be angry - there's a lot to be angry about," she told reporters at a fundraising breakfast on Manhattan's West side. "It's a free country and people are going to express that anger."

Michael Moore-Howard Dean-Elizabeth Edwards.

Radio show host Dennis Prager is now reporting that Howard Dean did at least
have the class to object to the raw language at the Demo party last night.

Maybe he's going for the pity vote. Pity the cute guy. He must be a good joe, to stay with a fat wife.

I just hope he says it in public.

Liz wasn't speaking for herself ... she and John Pony were engaged in channelling at the time and it was merely the spirit of DemoncRATs past that was speaking through her at that moment.

Her weight would never be a political liability, but opening her mouth will give her attention she does not need.

Watching Elisabeth it has struck me that in her own head, she has deemed herself as the next Hillary. She's got a real inflated opinion of her "position" and "law degree". Sigh... its a sad day when someone actually aspires to the likes of Hitlary.

If there's something to admire about Edwards, it's that he didn't dump his wife (and kids) for a 115-pound model.

Perhaps Mr. Edwards is not attracted by 115 pound (female) models. Perhaps his orientation is directed towards....

I think Bill Cosby should have a Talk with Whoopie, and tell her she is setting a bad example for the Children. LOL. I'd pay to watch that.

Sad thing is Whoopie could not be reached BY Cosby, she would probably just swear more.

She's a piece of work. I've posted before that during the dem presidential primary I saw her on CSPAN addressing one of those in-home coffee klatch campaign events. Her comments involved putting down President Bush in a personal way. She said he wore jeans and a "big old belt buckle" for show and drove a truck for show, while they, the Edwards, drove a "real" truck, "the kind that gets rust in the back".

I could see right then the woman was nasty.

so much for her image of homemaker holly hobbie.

So much for the devout Bible study-attending, churchgoing image of both of them, John and Elizabeth Edwards. One of the puff pieces about the impact of their teenaged son's death went on and on about how they became so much more spiritual, in the evangelical Christian motif. Whatever.

I guess so, but she is a lawyer as well and four years his senior. I just find it odd. Don't tell me that there are not tons of women out there who are incrdulous that Edwards married her.

However, its not the first time I have seen this. I know some rising politicians from the midwest who have totally frumpy wives.

I think most decent people will just surmise that they love each other.

The arrogance of the elite white limo lunatic lawyer libs, John/John and their wives is incredible.

Good!

Thanks to the internet and Fox News, that arrogance will be shown on a daily and weekly basis.

The moderate voters will be driven away from this elite arrogance.

We will become more galvinized and more resolved to vote for GW/Cheney in 2004.

It's much better to avoid put-downs over physical appearance, that is just too juvenile in a serious debate. If they want to talk about their hair and use gutter language and the media lets them get away with it...well, there isn't much we can do about it. But we sure don't need to join in! I have so many over-weight relatives and friends, it often is quite beyond them to lose it too. It is nice he loves her and apparently is faithful all these many years. That one aspect of Edwards I do respect. Not much else!

Listen Bonnie, this board has lambasted Hilary concerning her appearance, including her weight for a long time.

Why the kid gloves standard for Elizabutt? This woman defended nasty Whoopi Goldberg when she compared the President to a pubic area. Do you really think these people are any different than Hilary? The Edwards' have attached themselves to one of the biggest liars around. If it was acceptable to pillory Hilary about her looks, which she has no control over, than I fail to see why we should tiptoe around traitor Elizabeth and her weight.

Her weight could absolutely be a political liability. Think of how Nancy Reagan's appearance was used against her--her elegance, etc. Just need the right pressure point to use it.

I do think some of my brainstorming was excessive. "Elizabutt" may be closer to the mark.

If she's covering up in wool blankets in July, it's because some operative made her--
