The wife of vice presidential hopeful John Edwards is defending Whoopi Goldberg after the potty-mouthed comedienne attacked President Bush with an X-rated monologue at Thursday night's Kerry-Edwards fundraiser in New York.
Rejecting calls for her husband's campaign to apologize for Goldberg's outburst, Mrs. Edwards said Friday that the anti-Bush tirade was justified.
"A lot of people are going to be angry - there's a lot to be angry about," she told reporters at a fundraising breakfast on Manhattan's West side. "It's a free country and people are going to express that anger."

It's funny, I never thought of clinton as "smart" (although that was always cited by his supporters as one of his biggest attributes). But kerry/edwards make clinton look like a genius by comparison. If there is a pile of dog excrement on the sidewalk, they seem to have an uncanny ability to go out of their way to step on it. For all of clinton's lying, cheating, delusional ways, he would never do any of this stuff.

You missed how she wrapped herself up in a woolly shawl in July while the Breck Girl was showing off his bleached teeth. She thinks her weight is a political liability. Maybe she shouldn't have opened her mouth to defend Woopi's obscenities.
When you personally attack Mrs. Edwards for her weight, you are joining Whoopi in the Mosh Pit. We have plenty of "fatties" on our team. No use in descending to their value level. I hope we hold to better values.

If they truly believe it's okay to express such "anger", then why don't they broadcast Whoopi's outburst, and let the American people be the judge.
That doesn't look like "baby" weight to me.

He would have graduated from high school in 1970 or 1971 and, assuming a student deferment for college, would have missed the opportunity to serve. By 1975, the military was negotiating with ROTC new-grads to forgive the commitment to provide a commission and in return they forgave the tuition; a very sweet deal. Remember, at that point in Nixon's shut down the officer pipeline was still full and we stopped losing our young 2nd lieutenants and pilots.
I suppose you could make a case for his enlistment right after high school but that would ignore the realities of college deferments taken by the majority of his classmates. It is an approach that would backfire for sure.
