Now that I think about it, you make a lot of sense.

Do you remember the primaries when Howard "Hate America" Dean would not campaign with his wife because he did not think he had to? He actually had some good points about not wanting to drag his wife around like a trophy. However, this is America, and the voting public needed to see Howard Dean in order to vote for him. They literally need to see a wife to judge how well the candidate "picked". If the spouse is a shrew, its bad publicity. If shes attractive and warm, its good. Hillary had to go through a complete makeover in her years down in Arkansas.

If JE plays the sympathy too hard (Poor Elizabutt)--he'll risk contempt--that'll cost him votes. We do like winners better than whiners.

To put a Machiavellian spin on it--weight is an issue that can play many ways in the mind of the insecure woman (perhaps all women are insecure). I read today that Kerry picked Edwards for the very reason that he expected JE to consolidate the Dem Fem vote. Apparently Kerry worries--the liberal women are not as enthusiastic about him as his success with heiresses would indicate.

I did come on too strong at the beginning of the thread. I admit to trolling--wanted to see what the reaction would be. And, sure enough, objections emerged. Handling this would be hard to do correctly--

But don't ask me to feel sorry on someone grown fat on the largesse of abusing our court system.

She needs to go on the Lawyer Diet.
