Border Patrol Muzzles Agents Over Sweeps Story
Roger Hedgecock Show, AM600 San Diego, California ^ | July 9, 2004 | John Jorsett

Posted on 07/09/2004 4:37:43 PM PDT by John Jorsett

I've just been listening to Shaun Moran, an agent with the Border Patrol talk to Roger Hedgecock on his San Diego show (AM600, streaming audio available at the link). Moran says the Border Patrol has informed him and all agents that, contrary to policy up to now, there will be no more paid media appearances. Moran has been the official spokesman for the union representing Border Agents, and has made many paid appearances to inform the public in that capacity, most recently in regard to the illegal alien sweeps that the Border Patrol has recently made. Moran says he's sure this new policy is retaliation for the heat and embarrassment that's been generated as a result of these sweeps and the consequent banning of same by the DHS after the illegal alien advocacy groups started screaming about it. Moran says the public is entitled to the truth and that his union is going to make sure that they get it, despite this new policy. Moran says that, if necessary, his union will pay for his appearances (or Moran will do as he did today and make them while on vacation, before work, etc.) just to make sure the word gets out. If you'd like to register your objection to the banning of the sweeps and/or the attempts to stifle the dissemination of information regarding same, there's contact information for Asa Hutchingson's (Under Secretary for Border & Transportation Security) office at NBPC1613.org. We estimated during LA drive time, during the past couple of days, more then 2 million people were probably tuned in to KFI. This doesn't include those that can hear the station 3 states away..

Uh Joe who is this we? Second I doubt that 2 million people(10%) of the LA metropolitan area are tuned in to KFI, third, KFI's signal does not go 3 states beyond until after dark, when John and Ken are off the air.

It's not my union. Remember?

You are correct it is everybodys union, since it is part of the Federal govt. and not a peep is being heard from this union about Joe Baca(D-CA).

Good answer, but by the same logic old Asa is part of the Federal government, supposedly working for all of us, and now some of his employers are a mite upset that he's showing all the spine of a jellyfish and not doing his job.

You were deliberately insulting a poor guy desperately looking for a job last Christmas. You also derided my efforts to help him. Lately you've waged dogmatic assaults on anyone wishing to see much needed reforms in our border policies (Feinstein...Boxer...why don't you attack...IMO...post stupid picture of DJs...kneejerk...accuse...never answer questions).

I found your official flag

You're from Pennsylvania and your Senators are Rick Santorum and Arlen Spector. While both are Republican their stance on illegals reflect yours: Nothing to be proud of. Do you have anything constructive to contribute or are you collecting checks from the Mexican government?

What the hell are you talking about? I do not deride anybody who wants to work.

Since you got that non-sequiter out of the way, all I am doing is pointing out that Joe Baca(D-CA) is the one who got the ball rolling in stopping the sweeps and not a word of criticism about him from the border patrol union.

Actually, it is Joe Baca(D-Ca) who got the ball rolling, but you already knew that, but refused to acknowledge.

Ah, yes, Joe "The Racist" Baca. In his mind, race takes priority over nationality.

Baca is just representing his contituents. He isn't the one with the authority who caved in and ordered them not to do the job they're supposed to be doing. Baca is not the one showing the need for a healthy dose of Spinal Viagra.

John and Ken are syndicated, hence a number of other stations carry their broadcast. So you doubt that 2-million tune into KFI? Provide figures to the contrary.

Seriously... you need to get away from listening to NPR and Talk America, the fresh air will do you good.

Uh Baca is the one meddling in Homeland Security and Asa Hutchison.

Again why not a peep about Baca from the union. Here's a hint, he's a democrat.

The Asa Hutchison cave-in to the Illegal Alien lobby continues

This is not a cave-in. This is the playbook Rove, Ridge and Hutchison were given, when they got their jobs.

The White House and DHS have absolutely no desire to go after illegal aliens living in the U.S.

If Bush had his way, every Mexican in Mexico would get a work visa to come take whatever job they want from an American and become US Citizens. They only thing standing in his way is Congress.

So you doubt that 2-million tune into KFI? Provide figures to the contrary

Here you go smarmy one.

The local area's top 25 stations and their average audience share of 10.4 million listeners in the spring quarter, as measured by Arbitron, compared with the previous three-month winter quarter.

Current Last Quarter
1 KPWR-FM 5.3 5.0
2 KROQ-FM 4.4 4.4
3 KFI-AM 4.3 3.7

LINK

Out of a total market of 10.4 million listeners, KFI averages 4.3%, about 440,000 listeners. These are last years numbers and the most recent number I could find.

And I went John and Ken's web page, you would think that if they were syndicated they would have list of the other affiliates. There is no listing thus the conclusion, no syndication.

I guess Asa never expected the reception he got. Too bad, ain't it! ;^)

Hehehe, what did he expect? Is this man so out of touch with the average American that he would be surprised at our response?

I don't call or fax, but I do send emails. I try and only send them when I feel it's absolutely neccessary. I belive the President needs to hear from us.
