But seven years seems excessive.

Her original sentence was much shorter, but she violated her parole conditions by seeing the boy, and had her sentence increased to the maximum.

Her original sentence was much shorter, but she violated her parole conditions by seeing the boy, and had her sentence increased to the maximum.

Which raised a lot of questions at the time, because at the time of the parole violation, Falaau had attained the age of consent in many states. Putting her away again for the maximum struck many of us, including this Libertarian, as excessive. That's a longer senetnce than most carjackers serve.

Today the plot thickened still more. LeTourneau has served her extended time and Falaau is now 21 with their two kids. He, Falaau, wants to get together with Mary Kay once again, and yet the court is still exercising some Javert-like instence that they stay apart. WHY? Now that they are both adults, whatever romantic choices they may make are totally up to them. Time for the law to butt out.
