O'Reilly to discuss SwiftVets ad tonight.

Posted on 08/05/2004 4:46:14 PM PDT by Jenya

In the promo, O'Reilly had that disapproving look on his face. Anyone want to bet he's against it.

I've heard that he was not happy about it on his radio show.

Well, IMO, Hume sounded like he didn't want to touch it. And Krauthammer suggesting we might never know the truth, fog of war and all that, was unbelievable. There's nothing foggy about falsified records, rice instead of shrapnel, or inflicted versus self-infliced wounds.

I agree; the news segment on this story was extremely biased towards Kerry; the round table was a little more balanced. The vets deserve an airing and Fox should provide them one, including Brit's show. I was a little disappointed in Brit's show on this tonight....and am hoping that since their COO endorsed Kerry, this won't impact their reporting. Time will tell.

Kerry was flailing lately anyway, why give him a chance to be symapthized with at this point?

I agree. Everybody here's foaming at the mouth over this ad, and I just think it's a huge mistake.

Look for Bush to completely disavow within the next couple of days.

Barnes wasn't all that negative...I didn't think he was negative at all.

The ad may make people feel sympathy for Kerry.

But people don't vote for a president out of sympathy.

"Oh, that poor man. I'll put him in charge of my family's protection"? Don't think so.

Brit Hume's all-stars already stated that the ad is a BIG NEGATIVE for George Bush!!

It's a very sad day in America when the "Emperor's New Clothes" rules the day.

If speaking an ugly truth about a prospective president and COMMANDER IN CHIEF is considered a negative to a sitting president, we might as well just lie down and let the libs have everything they want. IOW, if we fight, we lose. So why bother?

Seems like they really went out of their way to disavow the ad. Forgive my faulty memory but have they also disavowed the 527 ads against Bush?

The Swifties HAVE been trying to get this out. The website has been online for awhile now.

Kerry just got the nomination. They couldn't go running ads against him until then (unless they wanted to waste their money on one of the seven dwarves in the primary).

Now he is poised to be President. He never was in that position before now. This is why "30 years later" they speak up.

Vietnam was buried in the past until Kerry came on the scene and told everyone he was a war hero.

but what are we doing if we have to pretend that liars aren't liars and that phoneys are heroes?

Good question. The fact is, this group got together on their own volition, motivated by one thing they all agree on: John Kerry is UNFIT to be commander in chief.

They have every right to speak out, especially since Kerry and his supporters have chosen to harp on Kerry's service and frankly, misrepresent it. Yet, as you point out, we're supposed to let these tales be told by Kerry and his camp and silence anyone who speaks out lest they harm our side's campaign.

No. I don't think so.

Barnes was the only one who wanted to get to the bottom of it.

Yes - haven't we learned anything from the Clinton years :(

He was a liar and scoundrel, and in our zeal to prove that over and over, the populace was turned off to the opposition and rallied around him to some extent. The Dems should stand alone in this election as the negative ones.

You are correct BARNES wanted the PRESS TO INVESTIGATE and get to the bottom of the charges. Fat chance of that! However the consensus (2 of the 3) all-stars agreed the ads are a BIG NEGATIVE for BUSH. Their words not mine.

"I thought Hume was fine. I thought Brian Wilson's report in the early part of the show hit all the Kerry perspective talking points way too much and unduly since the points fail to strike at the truth of the matter and I was very disappointed. The roundtable later was better with Fred being the best and Mort being pretty good."

I missed all the talking head "fair & balanced" fan fair over what these men have to say. Hume went to elementary school with JFKerry so has known him all his life and I suppose it is not appropriate for one Catholic to offend overtly another.

Personally I could care less what these talking heads have to say about the good or the bad, either it is the truth or it is a lie.

This is beyond the "political", this is about truth.

Personally, I am totally impressed with the Swift Boat Veterans for organizing and taking the time and effort to put together an ad. That is the American way.
