I think the Kuwaitis had the right idea. Push them into Jordan.

If, as it turns out, he is not well enough to launch a take-over in Jordan, be assured those around him will squeeze the last benefit of his name by assassinating him and claiming that it was the Israelis.

So, what are they waiting for? I believe the Israelis can handle any "response" to Arafats' death. The same goes for Jordan.

Interesting article.

Unification with Jordan, after securing a foothold state but prior to the final destruction of Israel has been a formal strategic objective of the PLO since 1973. I'm sure one of Yasser's greatest regrets is not taking the Camp David deal while he had time to turn his attention eastward.

"America's State Department, for hidden reasons of its own, has always protected Arafat and kept him well-funded."

Why? Does anyone know? I'm clueless.

If Jordan has a coup, then Queen Rania can come live in exile with me, if she wants.

After Arafat began to launch terrorist attacks against Israel from Lebanon, then-Prime Minister Menachem Begin allowed Ariel Sharon to launch a war in 1982 that drove Arafat and his Arab Muslim terrorists out of Lebanon. They ended up in Tunis, but Yitzchak Rabin and Shimon Peres eventually brought Arafat into Israel, which soon produced several terrorist wars, called "intifadas", which continue to this day.

Some day, a historian is going to ask "What the Hell were they thinking? Why didn't they kill these monsters in Lebanon?"

Their Muslim brothers sure dont want them...but they enjoy sicking them on Israel.....

Israel is waaay too nice to these scumbags...and so is the USA

imo

Interesting historical background that I only knew a little of. Like Fidel, I wish he'd hurry up and die already!

America's State Department, for hidden reasons of its own, has always protected Arafat and kept him well-funded. I will presume that Arafat has considerable documentation that could embarrass many past presidents and the State Department, which might have been his insurance against assassination.

OK...Screw this guy now!!

Excellent article. I have to wonder if any of Saddam's oil money in American Politician's Swiss bank accounts could account for such traitorous action by the State Department. I wonder what Jimmy Goody Twoshoes would say? He identifies with and adores all the fascist dictators in the world. Clinton and Piaps fawning all over Arrafat, the
devil incarnate kissing the floozie wife of the Palistinian terrorist? Naw they couldn't be bought. They stood for the most ethical administration in history!!!!

Why, do you suppose, the Arafat's hold over the State Department has not been ratted out? Where is an inside Anonymous, at least one, who is willing to spill the beans? It is just bizarre that the State Dept has protected such an evil man whose crimes rival that of Hitler's.

The State Dept has accepted the Arabs worlds desire to destroy Israel as legitimate since Israel's founding. Post 73, recognizing the difficulty of an immediate military solution, they adopted the phased plan of the PLO, which from a diplomatic perspective requires a "people", palestinians, organization, the PLO, and a leader focused on the conflict. Arafat fits the bill. If State has signed onto Arab genocide as a legitimate foreign policy objective, Arafat's no more objectionable than the arms smuggling engaged in by Egypt.

Somebody once said that the Palestinians have never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Bad timing and stupid choices are Arafat's trademark. The Palestinians in Jordan may be more numerous than the native Bedouins, but the (highly professional) Jordanian army and security apparatus will be a major barrier to any coup. If Arafat tries this again expect a bloodbath that will make Black September look like a going away party.
