Wisconsin LP candidate fights back against Repub attacks

The GOP knows that some Wisconsin voters are willing to vote Libertarian. Does that justify using Democrat-style tactics?

How sad. Sounds like something Hillary would approve of.

Seems like a boneheaded move which any competent candidate ought to be able to use to his advantage.

Then again, who ever accused the LP of nominating competent candidates?

LIBERALtarians have no boundaries for lowness. Being LOW is part of their credo.

I gave the link to the LP website story. I didn't want to step on any copyright cobblestones.

It's still bogus, and beneath contempt, for the Wisconsin GOP to stoop to Hillary-style tactics.

I just looked at the excerpt list, and didn't see the Libertarian Party on it. Why give them a "hit" when we could read it here?

Um, we're not the ones using Demorcrat-style nitpicking here. And if you go to Kuester's website, you'll find that he's against "Smart Growth", which basically tears up the rights of private property owners.

His opponent, a Republican, is in favor of misuse of eminent domain. Doesn't sound very "conservative" to me.

Didn't mean to sound accusatory. It's just that there's way too many bloggers posting excerpts trying to lure readers to their blogs. I resent excerpts. They take a lot more time to read, and often, the links contain lots of pop-ups and spyware, and possibly even nastier things.

I don't blog. I think it's illegal in my area.

I'm sure that the "story" on the party web site is an objective report. Perhaps you could find a 'credible' source, like one of the state's leftwing newspapers.

I see... well, here's an idea: Contact the Wisconsin GOP, and ask them what their beef is. Or perhaps the Wisconsin Elections Board; I'm sure they have info on these bogus complaints.

If this were happening to YOUR party, would you not make it public knowledge?

Big-L Libertarians, especially the LP candidates, aren't small-l libertarians. They're merely leftover anti-war hippies who want their pot, and much more sympathetic to the liberal cause than the conservative cause. I've never seen an article from lp.org that bashed Democrats instead of Republicans/Bush. LP is an embarassment to true Objectivists everywhere.

Well, I'm a "big-L", and a candidate, and I was born too late to go to Vietnam, and have no desire for liberalism to gain more of a foothold than it has.

You have a point about the "Republican-bashing", but in this case, it's warranted. The Wisconsin GOP is behaving badly by filing these frivolous claims. That's a misuse of authority and power, something Republicans should be against.

From the link you provided, it appears that the complaint against your candidate is already history:

The state Elections Board apparently agreed with the papers who covered the story: The board dismissed the complaint, with their legal counsel saying such frivolous complaints are an "abuse" of the system.

Now y'all know what you're up against. Playing with the big boys isn't for the faint of heart.

If you don't like the way the GOP conducts itself, why don't you join the party and try to change it from within?

If you're just going to sit on the fence and fling poo at both sides, why should either of the major parties listen to you?

There's "playing", and then there's "dirty, dishonest behavior more befitting of Democrats".

The point is, the Wisconsin GOP *could have* taken the high road in the first place. If they have a problem with political free-market competition, then they should only make complaints that have merit. Same goes for how Dems are mucking around with Green Party efforts.

I know politics is dirty business. God help me, I don't know what possessed me to get into it; I'm fixin' to find out how dirty it can get, if my opponents start fighting dirty. I won't be playing that game, but if something bogus got pulled on me like this, I'd damn well respond.

If I want smaller government, joining the GOP - or, in this case, re-joining - isn't going to accomplish anything.
I wouldn't be welcome there anyway; local Republicans know how long I've been involved in my party, and would view me as some sort of "mole".

Besides, it's fun to fling poo at both sides. Bear in mind, however, that Democrats get MUCH more poo-flinging from me.

If I want to live in a socialist state now, I'll vote for Dems. If I want to live in a socialist state later, I'd vote Republican. Since I want neither outcome, I'm staying put.

If the WI GOP had a clue, they wouldn't have a rat Governor and two rat Senators, or a herd of rinos in Madison.

I won't be playing that game, but if something bogus got pulled on me like this, I'd damn well respond.

This is revenge for Ed Thompson's "theft" of Repub votes in the WI governor race last go'round. They're still miffed that Thompson "caused" Wisconsin to elect a liberal governor.
