Rusty to retire after 2005? Although nothing has been announced yet, Rusty Wallace, the 1984 NASCAR rookie of the year and 1989 champion, has begun planning for a farewell tour next season [2005]. Such announcements often come during the October weekend in Charlotte, but it wouldn't be surprising if Wallace, who will turn 48 Saturday, were to make his in two weeks in Bristol, Tenn., site of nine of his 54 victories.(Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) - been told the announcement will come at California Speedway during the first labor day weekend race there.(8-13-2004)
