The man in the middle of New Jersey's gay sex scandal insisted yesterday he is straight and planned to sue only because Gov. Jim McGreevey was coming on to him. "He hit on me over and over," Golan Cipel, 35, told Israel's Yediot Ahronot newspaper. "I got to a point where I was afraid to stay with him alone.
"Think about how scary it is when we are talking about a powerful man like the governor of the State of New Jersey," added Cipel, who is in hiding in New York.
Cipel's lawyer said McGreevey, after hiring Cipel for a $110,000-a-year post as a terrorism czar, began forcing himself on Cipel.
"There were numerous sexual assaults, physical contacts, which were forced on Golan," said the lawyer, Allen Lowy, refusing to elaborate on the alleged sex acts.
Lowy said Cipel did not report the alleged attacks because he was afraid for his job and his career. He claimed the ex-aide has witnesses and proof, but would not provide specifics.
McGreevey resigned in an emotional press conference last week in which he admitted carrying on a "consensual relationship" with a man whom aides identified as Cipel.
The FBI is investigating McGreevey's claim that Cipel tried to blackmail him.
"It doesn't bother me that it is said I am a homosexual, but I really am not. I'm straight," he said. "On the other hand, to accuse me of being an extortionist? Someone here has lost his mind."
McGreevey aides rejected Cipel's claims and called him a gold digger.
"The fact that Mr. Cipel has chosen to tell yet another story to journalists 7,000 miles away has to call into question the accuracy of anything he says," McGreevey spokesman Micah Rasmussen said.

I can hear the conspiracy theorists...
Cipel works for the Mossad, and they want Bush reelected, so this is part of a campaign to distract and deflate the Democrat Party, the effects of which will reflect poorly on Kerry's already lackluster performance.
Male rape is just more than I want to know this hour of the morning.
The whole very sorry, very sordid affair is okey-dokey with the democrats apparently.

Cipel was working for Charles Kushner, who hired him specifically so that Kushner would be able to blackmail McGreevey whenever he needed state approvals, assistance, etc. for any of his myriad of real estate interests.
Well, this was Jersey, home of Bruce Springstein, often speculated to be a Mossad double agent.
Well, now we know the truth about Bruce Springstein... He's working for the DNC, not Mossad.
A video would sure be hard to defend against.

No. The NYT strongly condemned it (and said it was absurd and undemocratic for McGreevy to stay in office instead of having a special election). The NYT sets the liberal agenda (not officially or anything, but most liberals will take their cues directly from the NYT or from some other liberal aping it.
Maybe the NYT knew the rape allegation was coming and that's why it came out so strongly against McGreevy (because they didn't want any Dems to get caught defending him before the rape charges broke).
We will have to see whether in the next few days top Democrats publicly call on McGreevy to step down immediately.
BINGO! Sounds like Cipel is a con artist. McGreevey got conned, seems like. Where's the Marion Berry defense?
I don't understand all of this, if Golan is claiming McGreevey made unwanted sexual assualts on him, then why not file criminal charges forsexual assualt? If there are witnesses, then there is probably enough to go forward with an indictment.
The only thing I can think here is that Golan and his lawyer cut a huge deal with McGreedy. The true scandal will be the source of the money. I am going to go out on a limb and say that the money is coming from the taxpayer.
You know what - the RAT voters could care less.
Now I ask you Freepers, isn't this just the perfect example of why gays should marry and have the same rights as hetro couples???.....(sarcasm off).....

If you look back over the scandals from the beginning you see the faces of the blackmailers......the Mayor of Newark comes to mind and the list goes on and on and on.
