Officers in hurricane-ravaged Fort Myers used a Taser gun on a man allegedly trying to get by a police barrier to get home, and it was all caught on tape.
This video was just mention on Boortz...

I wonder if Matt Drudge knows that he subsidizes information for most radio talk shows...
I'm sure he does...
1. Don't try to get around a police barrier.
2. That's why they use tasers instead of guns.
A barrier is a barrier. Or would that man have preferred that the police let a looter through just because he really wants to get by?
Logic is lost on those who would bash cops.
79% of the poll says the cops went to far... even when the article states the cops ahvent seen home for days either. idiots out there. tons of them.
I feel for everyone in this situation.
The guy wants to see what's left of his home.
The cop's trying to follow orders. For all we know there are power lines, or dead bodies or whatever.
Everyone is frustrated, angry, hot, tired, thirsty, and many have lost most of their lifetime's belongings.
I think I would be a little pushy (like the homeowner) and a little testy (like the cop) also.
It's really a no win situation.
Like the poster above said, that's why they use tasers instead of guns.
It sucks when the personal property / "protecting the public" issues intersect like this.
i noticed the guy yelling at the cops used the term "comeon man" like it was part of every day speak... and then said "comeon! hes got children in front of him! (and then his words are bleeped out)"
What is the reason for keeping people out of their homes?
Nice catch.
Cops ended up arresting the hothead on a couple charges for driving off when the officer tried to take the keys out of his van!
To prevent looting, most likely.
APf
(Just a quick yank to set the hook.....)
The problem, as you well know, is that there are looters who masquerade as "home owners who just want to get some of their stuff." Controlling access to areas is the best way to deter looters.
looting, powerlines, gas leaks, not to let them get in the way of salvage workers, keeping the peace, picking up bodies, not letting a roof fall on the man's head.... do you need more? im sure i can find something else as well if yo do.
Then why did the 'authorities' let people who wanted to stay behind?
Aren't they afraid the survivors are going to loot their neighbors' property?
"If he got through and something happened I'm sure the liberals would be the first to scream the cops were derelict in their duty and should be sued."
good point.
liability.
If all of this is such a danger, then why wasn't everyone cleared out of the area before the hurricane hit?
