Sen. John Kerry's campaign said yesterday that the Democratic presidential nominee is not hiding any of his war records and has, in fact, released them all to the public.
Mr. O'Neill said the key is Standard Form 180, which, if Mr. Kerry signed it, would let reporters or anyone else write the Defense Department to ask for all of his military records.
John O'Neill, the man who took over Mr. Kerry's command in Vietnam and a co-author of the new book "Unfit for Command," said such records as after-action, hostile fire and casualty reports would show whether Mr. Kerry deserved one of his Purple Hearts.
"If he executes Standard Form 180, he would no longer be the gatekeeper, the gatekeeper would be the U.S. military."

If he were honest, and the records would confirm Kerry's version, wouldn't you think that he would immediately sign ( or would have already signed) the 180 to release all his records?
I like O'Neil. He knows what records the voters really need to see - not just those Kerry "chooses" for us to see.
Well than, Kerry should have no problem in signing the Form 180.
WELL JOHN! COUGH 'EM UP! (He can't. They'll destroy him)
Kerry camp denies hiding war records; they aren't hidden. you just can't look at them.
Sure you can. They're all on his web site. He SAYS so.
This is another lie ... "gee I thought he was Vice Chair of the Intelligence Committee ... I thought we'd posted his entire service record". Not only have they never released everything, they've been pulling what they had released faster than the daily news cycle!
That's the nuance...err...truth.
The problem is that he has the wrong Martin Sheen role. I swear he reminds me of Martin Sheen as the paranoid schizophrenic presidential candidate in the original movie version of The Dead Zone.
Disagree with my delusions? I'll sue you for slander!!!
Every aspect of Kerry's memories, utterances, and official "history" are completely fraudulent. He is a pitiful charlatan, absolutely pathetic, unfit for any office requiring moral character.
Hidden and released were entirely interchangeable back then.
I didn't hide my war records...before I did hide my war records, says Kerry.
Mr. Sandusky said it doesn't surprise him that Mr. Kerry may have forgotten where he was then because, like many serving in Vietnam, they didn't want to think about Christmas. "We didn't know where we were at for Christmas," he said. "If [Mr. Kerry] said it, I believe it. I've known John Kerry for 35 years, and he's never lied to me."
Kerry was sh*t canned from VN. Anybody can see that.
Military Records Requests
We are using this fact sheet to ensure a timely response to requests for information from military records (discharge certificate, record of training, death record, and so on) received at the Department of Defense (DoD). It is also a response to those citizens who have been erroneously referred to us for a "booklet on obtaining military records." Contrary to published accounts, DoD has not prepared such a booklet, but we trust the following information will be useful.
The individual military departments do not maintain files or records pertaining to individuals no longer on active duty. When an individual is separated from military service (because of retirement, discharge from active duty, or death), his/her Field Personnel File (containing all military and health records) is forwarded for storage to the National Personnel Records Center (Military), 9700 Page Boulevard, St. Louis, Missouri 63172. The Records Center is under the jurisdiction of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) of the United States Government.
An individual's complete service record is available to the former service member or, if deceased, to his/her next of kin (parents, spouse, or children). Limited information (such as dates of service, awards, and training) is available to anyone. Not available to the general public is information which would invade an individual's privacy; for example, medical records, Social Security number, or present address.
The St. Louis Center receives many requests for service records each week, so a request will be processed with greater speed and accuracy if the requester uses a Standard Form 180, "Request Pertaining to Military Records". You may obtain a copy by downloading pdf versions now; by calling us at 703-697-5737; or by using our Defenselink Comment/Question Form on the Questions page. Form 180, which contains instructions, is also available from most veterans organizations or by writing to the National Personnel Records Center. If requesting the records of a relative, a requester should mention the relationship to the former member (brother, uncle, or other). There is no charge for this service to former service members or their next of kin. For others, a nominal fee is charged for research and reproduction costs. (In this regard, files at the Records Center are maintained as historical records only and are not updated to reflect current data on the former service member.)
Note: Of incidental interest for individuals compiling family histories: the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), 8th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20408, (telephone: 202-501-5400) provides assistance to those interested in genealogy. NARA normally charges a nominal fee for research and reproduction costs.
Funny how this issue hasnt gone away....
hahaha
Quite a life-changing moment.
the dims released bob kerrey's records- that should be enough.
Gone away ? The swiftvets need to put out another ad challengeing him to sign 180 and prove that they are wrong.
Note that Sandusky does NOT say that they were receiving fire from the banks as claimed by Rassman and Kerry.
