Neither I nor my wife will vote for either candidate for the US senate this election.

Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with Ambassador Keyes' views on the WOT and related issues.

Q: Where do you stand on gun control?

A: I'm a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and I think it would require some serious justification in my mind before we would curtail the rights of gun owners. I was appalled when I heard that my opponent was one of these people that believe if a burglar breaks in your house you don't have the right to use some means of self defense against an individual that might threaten your life.

Q: In the past you have said you would like to eliminate income taxes in favor of a national sales tax. Is that still your stand?

A: I think the oppressive burden of taxation is a discouragement to productivity and job creation and so I've never seen a tax increase that I liked. I'm an opponent of federal income tax.

I think it's a system that heavily damages our economic prospects by taking control and the resources out of the hands of people. I want to see it abolished and replaced with a national sales tax, a system that leaves the control of all our earnings in our own hands until we decide how to save it, how to invest it and how to spend it. Instead of taxing our productivity it will only tax us when we are in the public market place.

Q: Gay rights, gay marriage and civil unions for gays have been a much debated topics in recent months. What is your position?

A: I believe there is a realm of privacy that the government should not intrude into, but I don't think this extends to things like destroying the institution of marriage for the sake of the sexual indulgence of a minority of people.

I am strenuously defending the institution of marriage and I support the Defense of Marriage Act and I believe in the Federal Marriage Amendment because I think we need protection so one state's decision does not spread and force the destruction of marriage on all other states.

My Lord Jesus

I confess Jesus
He's the Savior of my soul
He gave me His Spirit
He made me whole

I confess Jesus
He hung on Golgotha's tree
He did it for you
He did it for me

I confess Jesus
He gave sight to the blind
Day by day
He's renewing my mind

I confess Jesus
He made water into wine
We are the branches
But He is the Vine

I confess Jesus
Without Him hope would be dead
He paid the full price for sin
Out of love, in our stead

I confess Jesus
It's the least that I can do
Until that soon-coming Day
When He makes all things new

I confess Jesus
He's meek, He's humble at heart
Thank you, Lord Jesus
For giving me a new start

EV

If confession of Christ is now a disqualifier for public office in the United States of America, and if someone like you will empower an extreme Leftist like Obama by your inaction because of a man's faith, there is no hope left for restoring or defending our free republic.

Game over.

Snide remarks do not change the fact that your comprehension is lacking.
I quoted Keyes' specific explanation of his comment, and it's nothing like what you claim. But, you don't seem particularly interested in facts.

Spoken like a true Keyes supporter.

All Republicans should be 'Keyes supporters'. You supporting the alternative?

Snide remarks do not change the fact that your comprehension is lacking.

YOU are the one who's call me "ignorant and ill-informed" and now post that my "comprehension is lacking".

And you're going to lecture me on "snide remarks"?

I have volumes of information on Keyes. His reputation is well deserved. And judging from your sanctamonious insults I am not surprised that you are one of his disciples.

By the way, did I mention that Keyes is going to lose in November?

Do you really think that calling him nasty names will bring him around to your way of thinking?

That has been likely ever since Ryan stepped down, although not yet certain.

Some of us would like to see Keyes win. Others would like to see Obama win.

Into which category do you fall?

"Well, professing is the operative word," Keyes says, in a moment of snarkiness conspicuously absent from the rest of the interview.

I admit, it seems snarky.

Now I would react the same way if someone tried to tell me that my faith and the faith of John Kerry, womanizer, pro-abortion supporter, etc. were the same.

Is Obama pro-abortion? Pro-taxandspend? Pro-gungrabbing?

If so, I too question his belief in Christ.

My remarks weren't snide, they were exactly what I thought of what you said, unlike your snide remark to me about God.
I'm not lecturing you on anything.
You are entitled to your opinion on Keyes. What you are not entitled to is to misquote or misrepresent what he said.
I hope he wins, but I doubt he will.

Yeah, I agree with you.

It's like Clinton coming out of the Baptist church with his monster-sized Bible.

Pretty hard to think he takes his professed faith seriously.

While we can never judge any person's final destination, the Lord did tell us that we would know a tree by its fruit.

And there can be little doubt that Alan Keyes has deeply internalized the principles of his Christian faith, and also the founding principles of our republic.

Welcome to Free Republic.

The "unreliable partners" you reference (meaning me) are a large enough component of the conservative movement and the Republican Party that you have no hope of winning without us. It sounds like more than anything you are interested in handing the entire government over to the Dems and the country to the likes of Bin Laden. To put it simply, I don't trust you, and I don't trust your motives.

I have no desire to return anyone to the 2nd Century; I don't know where that came from. I do believe that protecting innocent life is more important than a tax cut, which is not to say that tax cuts (along with private property rights, free enterprise, and all the rest) are not important.

I'll be voting for Bush, and if I lived in Illinois I'd volunteer and vote for Keyes.

You just gotta love FReepers who do opposition research on conservative candidates.

Refresh my memory: Why exactly do you hang out on a conservative website?

As to the rest of your comments? Very well said!

very likely true.

having said that, it is still useful to use this campaign to attack obama. he's a fraud. he's a dem.

I don't like him... or his party affiliation.
