Thanks blam!
"I thought the Minoans on Crete had the first toilets"? That was claimed of course, but Evans wanted the Minoans to be just like Victorians. Wunderlich (a geologist I think) claims that the "toilets" were actually facilities for embalming (the drains got rid of the blood etc) and that the palaces were actually mortuaries and mausoleums for the upper crust of that time, analogous to the Egyptian practices. Please FREEPMAIL me if you want on, off, or alter the "Gods, Graves, Glyphs" PING list --
Archaeology/Anthropology/Ancient Cultures/Artifacts/Antiquities, etc.

they were grouped in a series of emirates known as Nairi, Emirs have become rulers after the invasion by the Turks and establishment of Islam, which occurred 1300 years after the period described in the article. There were no "emirates" then.

764 B.C. is now "prehistoric? I'm not surprised. Anything prior to disco is now considered "classical."

Was the seat raised on the toilet when it was discovered? Those toilets didn't have seats.

This is the Armenian territory (Urartu was the ancient name for Armenia). Unfortunately
Turks purged the Van area from original Armenian population. Today Armenia represents the area under former Russian control.

Thes folks had the first toilet in a VAN! Wow! Yet nobody seems too impressed by the fact that they'd invented the Van in the first place.

Other scientists disagree with such dating techniques. Clearly they lack understanding of erosion factor, at given erosion rate. It is not that old.
