A concerned private citizen, James B. Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 26, 2004 -- James B. Davis, a private citizen, announced today that he has created a website where anyone may read, print, forward or save a PDF copy of John Kerry's book "The New Soldier" for free. Since its publication in 1971, John Kerry's book "The New Soldier" has acquired almost legendary status. Rumors abound of political operatives scrambling to locate and suppress stray copies during Kerry's House campaign in 1972. Copies now sell on eBay for hundreds of dollars.
John F. Kerry has made his Vietnam service the cornerstone of his campaign for President. But he has said virtually nothing about what he did when he came home. His activities and statements at the time painted our veterans with an undeserved bloody brush. Many believe, and statements by the North Vietnamese confirm, that the activities of John Kerry, Jane Fonda and others actually prolonged the war, resulting in the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of our soldiers, and thousands of Vietnamese.
Mr. Davis stated, "Before you decide how to vote in the forthcoming election, I urge everyone to consider all the information available. I strongly believe the contents of this book are of great importance in the forthcoming Presidential election and deserve to be widely distributed." Mr. Davis has created a website at http://freekerrybook.com where anyone can read, print, forward or save a copy of the book to a PC absolutely free. No registration or sign-on is required, and no ads appear on the site.
The PDF version of "The New Soldier" by John Kerry does not include photographs, but does include all of the text contained in the original book. Mr. Davis has created this project as a private citizen at his own expense.
IMO, that's the whole point. Even by smearing it they would draw attention so all they can do is ignore it, which the website sagaciously knew. N-QP6 (checkmate)
Rock and a hard place brudda, Rock and a hard place...
Try this. Someone posted it the other day. I haven't tried it yet, though. Hope it will work for you.

Not working for me at all. Could someone email me a copy?
When someone helps you get the book can you pass it on to me. I am unable to access the download.
Can't get the info. Any help where else to get?
Hell no! This is completely illegal.
The thinking is, Kerry wouldn't dare to file suit because it would make him look like a complete jackanape.
But the law is definitely on Kerry's side.
You can get it from here http://ejsmithweb.com/fr/newsoldier/
It worked for me - sometimes it pays to get up early. If anyone wants it in pdf, send me a freepmail with your real email address and I'll send it to you (I promise I ain't a troll!).
Copyright expires 90-120 years after the authors death now. There were different rules for a work created in 1972 and I'd have to look it up, but it still required the author to be dead. Now while Kerry may strongly resemble a corpse, I don't think he's dead.
No. Only by illegal copying.
It seems to me that by posting 'The New Soldier' on the web is illegal, but I am no lawyer. I have heard of the book also surfacing elsewhere on the web; in fact, before I saw this post this morning I was going to search for the book on the web.
Not to tip off the Kerry campaign, but their best course of action is to not say anything about the book. They haven't mentioned it so far. If the Kerry campaign complains that this is illegal, they will draw attention to the book. Which means the contents of the book will eventually (hopefully) be discussed in the media. I don't trust the media to report on the details of anything. The headlines will not be about the contents of the book, but about the illegal distribution of the book. It will be slanted as 'another sleazy Bush attack'. Perhaps the Kerry campaign can roll the dice and pin this one on Bush as well. On the other hand, if the book's contents come into play it will drag this Vietnam issue out even longer, and keep Kerry off message. (Or is that on message - talk about Vietnam, and not Kerry's Senate record. Gawd, Kerry even has me flip flopping.)
I wonder how long it will take the media to pick up ont he book. Mark your calendars - I first heard that it was on the web yesterday, 8/25. It seems there is a big lag between the time things are discovered on FR and the media reporting on them - often times the biased media doesn't report at all.
I would suggest that everyone take the time to e-mail the link to 'The New Soldier' book to friends. I suppose that is not illegal.
(guess I'll finally get to use my Adobe 'e-book' function)
