That NPR gave that woman's story and not the story of Yanis, condemns them more fully than anything I could say. Why do we allow Bush to fund them?

I listen to them because I'm a news junky and I think it's good to hear the other side, but I spend half my commute yelling at the radio, so I doubt it's good for my blood pressure.

I refuse to send them money aside from what they get from my taxes however.

PHILOSOPHY PING

(If you want on or off this list please freepmail me.)

headsonpikes suggested I ping my philosophy list to this story, as he says, Here's a real story of philosophy in action for your ping lists.

Of course we have no idea what the explicit philosophy of this heroic man was, but we know it was pro-humanity to the same degree the vicious ideology of Islam is anti-humanity.

Don't for forget to vote in The Autonomist poll "Islam and Terrorism--what is the relationship?"

You will see governments (local and state) get busy and start emprisoning and killing any and all terrorists, sympathizers, funders, etc, and any individual or group even remotely connected to activist extremists.

This is the ONLY way to stop incidents such as we have witnessed at the school in Russia.

Any further incidents involving, for example, Arabs from Saudi Arabia, will result in the complete obliteration of both Mecca and Medina.

That's just for starters. Any takers?

Not exactly, and I will raise you one. This is a centuries old religious war. As eleni121 noted:

A reminder: Greeks gave been fighting Islam for over 1300 years.

I am sadly afraid that we still don’t get it. This is World War IV and is far more crucial than any that has gone before. We are still at the beginning of this war, not at the end as so many seem to think. It is going to get much worse before it gets better. The fact that not one Muslim cleric or official condemned this travesty means they all tacitly approve of it. Even the one commentator who said this was going to bring shame on all of Islam didn’t outright condemn it, just worried that the world would turn against Islam.

We are so brainwashed on religious issues in this country that we can’t conceive of the idea that the only way to win this war is to exterminate Islam. [As I said, raise you one.] Just as it was the communists or us, or the Nazis or us, it is the Muslims or us (the whole western way of life really.) As I said, we just don’t get it.

Yours is a cogent and comprehensive summary of the situation.

In the meantime, the money flow has to stop...from the Saudis to the jihadis all over the world. That means opening up ANWAR now among other steps!

Second, we need to more loudly support the Russian government's decision to go anywhere in the world and destroy terror targets as well as another government willing to join in the worldwide struggle against terror.

Finally, no more muslims shoud be allowed to enter the US! Period! Even one here is one too many.

Well, I will disagree with you a little bit.

First of all, there are plenty of oil wells across this land that could become productive wells if it weren't for all the stupid environmental regulations. Controlling what can be pumped, where, and the relative content of what can be used, (US oil often has too much sulpher.)

The oil from the Alaska pipeline is being sold to Japan rather than being shipped here. This is stupid. The same thing would probably happen with ANWAR oil. No solution there.

I would rather save US reserves and drain foreign reserves first, which is what we are doing now, rather than the other way around.

And consider, recent research seems to indicate that petroleum is not "fossil fuels" as is commonly thought but comes from the methane deeper in the earth that makes up the mantle and continually replenishes, thus will never "run out." This changes the picture dramatically.

Finally, there hasn't been a refinery built in this country since 1976 because of Greenie NIMBY and this is much a problem as the price of crude, maybe more. Thus there is more to the picture than just Mideast oil.

(Not to mention the traitor Jimmy Carter going down to certify the socialist/communist stealing of the election in Venezuela.) Oh, but I just did, didn't I? Or the continuing corruption in Mexico. Pemex would ease a lot of this, then again, the sulfer issue again.

Second, we need to more loudly support the Russian government's decision to go anywhere in the world and destroy terror targets as well as another government willing to join in the worldwide struggle against terror.

Or they need to support us more, since this is what we are already doing.

Finally, no more muslims shoud be allowed to enter the US! Period! Even one here is one too many.

Yes, and deport all illegal aliens, and close the borders for real. They are all a threat and lower the wages and standard of living for all.

Did you see the LA article that half the adult working population in Los Angeles is illiterate? So many illegals and so many school drop outs. LA will soon be Tijuana North if this continues. A far greater danger than most realize.

Agreed on oil supplies but on Russia we have been to wishy washy, some in the State dept claiming that Chechnya is a revolt not a terrorist operation which is what it is. The US needs to loudly proclaim alliance with the Russians on this.

ON immigration, I have a different take. Unions are a very dangerous element in our society spending hundreds of millions of dollars on left wing and other radical causes. Legals and controlled immigraton from Mexico (temporary workers) would help relieve the pressure on Mexico and on employers here who cannot get Americans willing to work for minimum wage. Bottom line is that the US needs to do anything possible to assist the Mexican economy in its drive to reform...we can no longer afford a third world Mexcio on our borders and no amount of border protection would stop the flow.

Agreed.

I am more capitalist/free market oriented than you are apparently. The free market should determine wages, not government. Then businesses would have to pay the prevaling rate. The market would decide.

The minimum wage should be repealed. The idea that Americans won't work for minimum wage is false. Illegal immigrants work for less than minimum wage, supplanting jobs that would willingly be taken by black Americans which, as citizens, they cannot take sub-minimum wage. (body shops, brake shops, window washers - Google "Thomas Sowell minimum wage" to see what I mean. Or Larry Elder, I forget which.)

Bottom line is that the US needs to do anything possible to assist the Mexican economy in its drive to reform...we can no longer afford a third world Mexcio on our borders and no amount of border protection would stop the flow.

The issue is more complicated than this. Check into the Mexican land system in the small towns. The town owns all land, individuals cannot own land, so they cannot better themselves. So they go to Mexico City or come here to try to find work. The Mexican land system is pure socialism, and is the crux of the problem. Until this is changed nothing we do is going to change anything, only make it worse for us.

God hold this man in Your loving arms. He is an utter contrast to the evil of their terrorist captors.
