Right you are -- possibly.
The only problem is that if the documents aren't forgeries -- and CBS is still sticking by its guns -- then the MSM that took this over from us will feel burned by us and may turn on us.
And also, if they aren't forgeries, then the whole significance of the non-event of Bush's service in the guard gets magnified.
So it still an open question whether this whole flap is a positive or a negative -- though I have to admit it's looking pretty good for the home team right now.
One thing, it seems it isn't true that proportionally based fonts were available only through type-setting in the 70's.

Proportional spacing is/was the first clue but the "th" and the WP automatic line cut off actually take precedence over spacing....one wasn't available and the other wasn't common practice. (remember having to stop and figure out where to break a word so you could continue it on the next line - and do it between the carriage return ringy-dingy and the end of the line?)
Proportional spacing was possible on some high end IBM's but you'd not find them at the level suggested by these faux-memos....the Army depot I worked for had one top end tape driven typewriter as early as 66 (don't know if it was proportional - but do know it was rare and the lady who used it would murder anyone else trying it out) but when the same army chose to teach me to type in 1970 it was an all manual (and noisy) affair.
