"I just found out by a DU guy that the DU is banning ANYONE who questions the memos."

This is what was called Facist.

"If these personal files were kept at home the docs HAD to come from Killian's family. But Killian's family says he wasn't the type of person that would take notes or keep personal files and claim these are forgeries. Which still leaves us with the question - where did these docs come from? CBS has got to tell us or their credibility is down the tubes."

The documents are fake. Dan Rather has said the content is accurate, based on CBS investigation. So, CBS, in collaboration with someone, ginned up documents to support a story which CBS wished to promote.

Everything about this story is Unethical, corrupt, deceitful, illegal, irresponsible....

Best news I heard all day = Military document forgery is a felony! Maybe Dan Rather can be Martha Stewart's cellmate.

<> It occurs to me that Kerry is cutting his legs out from under himself by not giving the press -- who SO want to help him out -- any coherent arguments to make on the WOT or Iraq. He's virtually refusing to talk to the press as if THEY are against him. Clearly, they are not. It's obvous that even some of the most ardent Kerry sympathizers within the 4th estate are at a loss to explain where he is coming from, leaving them with little choice but to acknowledge in their commentary that he really is all over the map.

I don't think we need to. Kerry and his merry band of idiots CANNOT campaign on anything else---they HAVE no Iraq plan, no War on Terror plan, etc. They are forced by their own convention to return to the jungles.

Cue CCR: "Better Run Through the Jun-gle (da da da da da dum)."

Media Research Center:
Dan Rather on Bill Clinton:
"I think he’s an honest man."

O’Reilly: "I want to ask you flat out, do you think President Clinton’s an honest man?"
Rather: "Yes, I think he’s an honest man."
    O’Reilly: "Do you, really?"
    Rather: "I do."
O’Reilly: "Even though he lied to Jim Lehrer’s face about the Lewinsky case?"
Rather: "Who among us has not lied about something?"
O’Reilly: "Well, I didn’t lie to anybody’s face on national television. I don’t think you have, have you?"
Rather: "I don’t think I ever have. I hope I never have. But, look, it’s one thing-"
O’Reilly, jumping in: "How can you say he’s an honest guy then?"
Rather: "Well, because I think he is. I think at core he’s an honest person. I know that you have a different view. I know that you consider it sort of astonishing anybody would say so, but I think you can be an honest person and lie about any number of things."
    O’Reilly: "Really?!?"
    Rather: "Yeah, I do."
    O’Reilly: "See, I can’t. I want my government to be honest across-the-board. I don’t want people lying."

I just found out by a DU guy that the DU is banning ANYONE who questions the memos.

Yeah, it is pretty obvious. At one point, even the conventional 'wisdom' at DU was that the memos were fake, they were just a Karl Rove dirty trick. Now all the posts are along the line that they are real and they really don't matter. Bush is a criminal and we don't need any proof. I hope DU has enough sand in their box to keep their heads buried.

Rush just suggested that everyone type up fake documents

I was thinking of an official document from the Kerry campaign demoting Dan Rather from Senior Campaign Propagandist to Junior Campaign Propagandist.

I missed a dot. Who is Burkett and what did he do before being referenced on this thread?

It looks to me like this debate is becoming more Clintonesque by the hour, rapidly descending to the level of "I did not inhale that woman, Arial Verdana".

Bingo. Dan was sounding a LOT like Bill over the weekend.

And was it not the CBS 60 minutes (oh, that show again, gee) interview during the 92 campaign that single handedly rescued the Klintons?

I mean, really, who is CBS really TRYING to hurt anyway with this flap?? In the end, who gets totally slammed? Why, sob sob, snif sniff, alligator tears falling like rain, its Kerry who gets Krushed.

Who wins? ... *whisper it now* Hiiiiillllllarrrryyyyyy, 'We're going to take your money', Klintoon, 2008.

Someone at SeeBS loves that woman, I mean really really LOVES her. (sorry, but who is Arial Verdana?)

Folks, the DNC is involved in this, and this makes Watergate look like amateur hour.

Frankly, considering the quality of the forgery, this makes Watergate look like a professional job.

You can check your font list, but it's the name of a woman I don't think would have existed in 972.

Bill Burkett is a former Texas Army National Guard member who holds a long time anti-Bush grudge. He's been claiming for years that he saw Bush ANG documents being 'scrubbed' at the Texas Guard HQ in 1997. This was picked up by the media in February 2004 and debunked by some of other guard members.

This guy has had two mental breakdowns and maybe a history of paranoia. He's been ranting on the internet for years. Newsweek has fingered him as a primary source on the CBS story. If CBS fell for him, then he's far from an unbiased unimpeachable witness as they claim.

I bet they don't have this document. I just got it from a'secret source' and it's been verifed as authentic!

Ok, I made it up. But I wonder if Dan Rather would go for it :-)

In the best case scenario for Kerry, and everything his crew charges about Bush's guard service is true, does he gain a single vote?
