Heyward, Rather and most of the CBS news staff will end up before congress and/or the FCC to answer questions. When they refuse to reveal sources, the case will end up before the Suprreme Court. Either that or the FCC will revoke their licenses. CBS should read the Red Lion Pa Case. That case went to the Supreme court and the licensee lost. That I think the Red Lion case was a Warren court era decision. CBS is playing with dynamite.

If CBS's loses that case and it is likley they will, Viacom may have no choice but to divest themselves of CBS and the CBS O&O stations. The media could lose its right in many cases to keep sources secret. THis is a huge gamble.

This statment makes zero legal sence. It is a man refusing to listen to his lawyers or a client so guilty that giving in even a little bit means certain disaster.

"CBS should read the Red Lion Pa Case."

I know this case from grad school, but can't remember it. Could you give us a briefing?

I was hoping you would weigh in on this since I value your opinion on this as much as anyone I know! CBS is going to wish they had fired Rather and not continued to go down this path IMHO unless like you said admitting a little is actually worse.

Now I have to wonder how much on-air reporting that Rather has done over the years is based on lies and falsehoods as he projected what the news "should" be according to Rather and ignored facts all along his career path.

Ahhh, so *now* you see the light...after first claiming that Senator Kerry would have to *invent* people like me to keep this story on the front burners...

Lets see, your old theory was that the Kerry Campaign itself actually *wanted* this story to somehow magically "distract" the public from his Senate record, yes?!

Oh please...

Exactly.
