The kicker for me was when they showed Daschle's Ad saying Thune was negative advertising on the fact that Daschle had raised gas taxes. Russert then said, "But Tom you voted to raise gasoline taxes in 93 and 95".

Daschle then admitted he had raised taxes, but that SD got more money back from the taxes. So Thune's Ad was correct and Daschle's Ad attacking Thune's was a lie.

All and all it wasn't very pleasent to watch, counterblame going back and forth etc...

But, the blatant untruth about Daschle's Ad, especially considering that it accuses Thune of negative advertisment was very illustrating. Why would he run an Ad attacking an Ad that was true?
