Ever since the ratings information was published, this was the invevitable result. When CBS news lost to all its regular competition AND to re-runs of the Simpsons, etc., Rather was toast. For Rather it was all about power and ideology; for the bosses, it is a tad about honest journalism but mostly and primarily about money. No ratings, no revenues; no revenues, good-bye Dan.
oh, but the full bore mea culpa will get great ratings!!

2) Burkett is the source
This is Rather's last chance - but if tell's all now, he may survive with his career if not his credibility intact.
