And Gunga Dan's doing Larry King tomorrow night, isn't he? This is gonna be the non-apology apology tour.

Will CBS stonewall as to the source of the documents? Did they get them directly from Burkett? Did CBS have any contact with Cleland, the DNC or other Dem operatives? Did Burkett prepare the forgeries himself or did he get some 'hep'?

Does anyone have an audio link of his cBS radio apology?

The public isn't the only apology Dan Rather needs to make. President Bush is also due a very humble apology. Nothing less will do...

The local news in Charlotte just ran a piece on the subject. They pleaded with the audience not to blame the local station, that they had nothing to do with it.
Apparently the pressure is on.

If we watch it, then their ratings will go up. I, for one, will not be tuning in to this or any other CBS show until they treat this case like they would if the documents were about Kerry's service.

Rather won't apologize for using FAKE DOCS. None of them
have admitted the DOCS were forgeries...only that they can't
be "verified."
So with a shrug and an "I don't know", they're hoping to walk
away from it, admitting nothing more improper than fully
doing their homework.

Live Thread: Rather's Latest Apologia on CBS Evening News
That sounds about right.
Rather will present an APOLOGETICS explanation of why he and CBS News did nothing wrong.
And that while the documents are false, the story is true.
And Dubya and Rove are the criminals that entrapped them.
Yada, yada, yada...

Sorry Dan. We need the name of your "unimpeachable" source, not the middle man.

I'm not getting my hopes up - all Dan-o's gonna do is mirror his memo. Contrition, doubtful. Let me predict that he will still maintain the "substance of the story is still true and should be investigated". He is a biased Bush-hater working in a raging liberally-biased Bush-hating news organization, only troubled because he got caught lying. But he would do it again in a heartbeat if he thought it would fly. Also, no one will get fired.
