LOS ANGELES - The son of R&B singer Chaka Khan has been arrested for investigation of murder, police said on Monday.
Damien Patrick Holland, 25, was arrested shortly after the Friday night shooting of an 18-year-old man, police Sergeant Catherine Plows said. Advertisement
He and the victim were fighting and both struggled to control a gun, which fired and struck the teen, police said. The victim died at a nearby hospital.
He was booked for investigation of first-degree murder and remained in custody on US$1 million bail. Prosecutors had not been handed the case but an arraignment was likely on Tuesday, according to the district attorney's office.
A publicist for Khan, 51, did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.

How awful.
It sounds like it may be an actual case of self-defense.
Geez, what comment would they expect her to make about her son being arrested for murder? Remember her follow-up to "Tell Me Something Good" was "Once You Get Started." And that about exhausts my Chakha Khan knowledge. Oh yeah, and she had a sister who recorded under the name Takha Boom.
"I Feel For You", "Ain't Nobody", "I'm Every Woman"...she's a legend. (I am a professional R&B singer, and there will only be one Chaka.)
It does to me, too.
If I hear that song, I have to test the upper limits of my amplifier, my speakers and my ears.
About as good a rocker as has ever been recorded.
Thanks for bringing me up to speed. I always liked my "Rags To Rufus" album!!
you run with low-lifes you sometimes get burned.
The odds of getting into a wrestling match over a gun in church is much much lower than the same in a club, or other dank location.
"Between the Sheets" (Fourplay)
Don't ask me why, but I remember her doing backup vocals on a Stephen Bishop album in the mid-1970s. You're right, she doesn't hold anything back.
Three classics!

So, where are the MP3s for us to download???
I don't have too much to say about the shooting .
Chaka Kahn has an incredible voice. She should have had some bigger hits.
She did several songs on the Funk Brothers documentary and she was awesome.
If she had been around in the heyday of Motown she'd have been a huge star.
I don't really have anything of my own out there...in terms of session work, I'm mostly on other people's projects, I have some radio station logos out there and stuff...things like that.
Have I mentioned that I love Chaka, and that I want to sing like that when I grow up? : )
I have some Fourplay lying around here...I wonder if I have that.
I don't think anybody is saying that...are they?
She sure sucked at the MTV awards. My ears are still aching. And she looked like Jabba the Hutt in a bustier.
Yep, she's awesome :-)
