I wondered the same thing during the debate. Bush had this "I don't need this crap" look on his face. I admire the man for standing by his principals but this is one I wish he'd flip-flop on.

Exactly. These provisions would be POPULAR with most Americans. They would approve of them. They would applaud them. Anybody who would not vote GOP because of them was not going to vote for them anyway, and even if there were a few like that then they'd be greatly outnumbered by those who support the provisions.

Bush's open borders zeal is easily one of his worst qualities. And Karl Rove too, since he's probably behind this.
