I have known him since he was born and now this baby-child-boy-man is going off to war.

Once a wise-cracking "authority" on the Titanic, Daniel Dobson aspired to a career in politics that he imagined might lead him to become governor of Michigan. Now 19, Daniel has taken a different road, motivated not by self-interest, but by those old-fashioned virtues - duty, honor, country - that appear to many to have gone on extended leave:.

This editorial brought to mind two of my close family members. My 19 year old nephew that began West Point this last summer. He already subscribes to the Army Values. My 55 year old reserve, brother-in-law who has received orders to go to Iraq soon as a chaplain.

Mr. Thomas nailed it with the one to which you refer. I remember reading it at the time it was published. If I might have a small measure of poetic license about John Kerry, let me say, "John Kerry isn't worth a bucket of warm spit."

Thanks for the link.
