Edwards opened up a can of puss on Dick Cheney.

I don't understand what that means. And I used to live in newsrooms, NOTHING goes undiscussed.

The other Edawrds said that her hubby met Cheney at a prayer breakfast. That was sent to Chris Matthews earpiece about 10 minutes ago.

The point was Cheney didn't meet him ON THE JOB.

I was half listening to the debate and half trying to get FR to work, but I thought I heard Edwards say the following, "We want the American people to have the same health insurance as the congress does." After that, I heard that "ALL children should have health insurance".

Am I imagining things, or did Edwards really say that?

I wonder if Edwards "daddy learned math on TV" story was prepared in advance or whether he was winging it last minute. After Cheney talked about his upbringing, Edwards may have decided during the debate he needed to show he had "humble beginnings" too. Seemeed kind of weird to me. Of course when Edwards went off on how afganastan was leading producer of some kind of drug was off the wall too.

I guarantee you Edwards' daddy story was not winging it. It was the total opposite of winging it. Maybe it went over well with the focus group, but he never looked more ridiculous than he did telling that stupid-ass story about his 'daddeee'.

'daddeee'.

Bringing up the subject of your daddy doesn't appeal to everyone. It is kind of lame.

Ooooh!! Those reports are going to leave a mark. I say the momentum is back in our direction. Bush needs to go out there on Friday and be himself. That is how he will win this election. His genuineness and likability will be in stark contrast to the stiff, phony, sKerry. If nothing else, the media attention will be off the first debate. This may go down as the first V.P. debate in history that really had an impact on the election.

Now on Fox they are saying Cheney misspoke, he had met Edwards and his wife a prayer breakfast months earlier!!!! To me that makes it even worse. Can you imagine Edwards saying that Cheney misspoke and said "I met you at a prayer breakfast" after Cheney basically told him he never saw him in the Tuesday Senate Chamber?

The point was he never did his Senate job!

That little Edwards anecdote (about his daddy's learning math while watching TV) didn't even make sense in the context of his closing statement.

His dad was using his own brainpower to try to better himself. That's the opposite of Edwards's empty promises to use government largesse to improve the lot of the masses.

Disagree. Edwards was squriming quite a bit when Cheney attacked not only Edwards but John Kerry himself, and he couldn't recover. Towards the end of the debate, Edwards couldn't even think straight forgetting twice in one question not to mention Kerry's name and the moderator called him on it each time. Cheney won hands down.

Me neither. Undecideds are more likely to go against incumbents. This was no accident. CBS knows this and did the snap poll that way to favor Edwards.

It's still a memorable moment because the point is clear: John Edwards wasn't in the Senate and missed several key votes.

I read today that Bush's strategy team advised him to not come across as attacking Kerry. They thought Kerry would blow it for himself. So now, I'm more confident that Bush will come out swinging in the next debate.

The point I was trying to make is that John Edwards is not memorable, therefore meeting him does not make for a memorable moment. It was a joke. :)

That little Edwards anecdote (about his daddy's learning math while watching TV) didn't even make sense in the context of his closing statement.

I thought the same thing. On the one hand, here is John Edwards, son of a man who didn't go to college, who made it far enough along in life to be the Democrat nominee for the Vice Presidency. That alone speaks volumes about the great opportunities here in America. And yet, Edwards warns us that "the bright light of America is flickering" or some nonsense to that effect. I think it was Brit Hume who once characterized Edwards as "a sunny guy with a gloomy message." It's bizarre, how Edwards smiles and uses such cheerful body language, while warning us that the sky is falling.
