I would hope that at some time (hopefully during our lifetime) we take the time to identify and label each sick act of terrorism with a full and proper name to help us keep track of which insane group is claiming their glory. I think a proper term for all acts of terrorism performed by Muslims should be therefore called "Muslim terrorist acts". If they are performed by Catholics, then "Catholic terrorist acts". If they are done by Southern Baptist.... you get the idea.

Such groups tend to have ways of correcting wayward members or take such actions as needed to make clear distinctions between what the "terrorist" believes and what in fact the core organization believes and practices.

IF 9 out of 9 terrorists in the news today were muslims, and 20 terrorist acts were committed by those same terrorists then they should be reported as "Muslim terrorist acts". If they were not, then let a Muslim set the record straight! Waiting.....waiting.......waiting.........

Hmmm...some of my friends are devout Muslims. They send me birthday presents every year, none of them explode. Whenever I witness to them about Christ, they kindly listen and witness back in kind--with respect. I have gone on PRIMITIVE camping trips with them for over a week at a time, totally isolated from the law...and yet, I have never woken up dead. But I suppose there's still time for them to do me in. If they do, you'll be the first one to know, ok claptrap?

As I said, as a Christian I believe Islam is a false religion. I studied Islam and Islamic civilization for several years as an undergraduate religious studies major. However, Islam is no more false than Buddhism, Hinduism, and a host of other false religions.......


Buddha did not go out killing people. Hinduism does not have a central figure who was a murderer who Hindus are urged to emulate. Emulate his life . Hinduism has some deities with an aspect of blood to them. Same for Tibetan Buddhism.

Hinduism and Buddhism have no doctrine of Jihad, religious conquest, so they are OK by me.

Good article, but I would like to see more discussion of the underlying fundamental question: CAN Islam ever be reformed enough to coexist within a civilized world?

It may well be that Islam contains within itself the seeds of terrorism/barbarism, and those seeds will grow whenever they are watered.

I have noted, throughout history, a seeming tendency of Western countries, the US in particular, to become very absorbed in the procrustean monstrosity de jeur, rather than fighting against the procrustean mentality and tendencies per se. Given that, I then must conclude that this current wave of Islamist terrorism *may* be designed to keep us from focussing on certain other procrustean evils, any or all of which may be the most pressing grand geopolitical threats to the West. In any case, I call upon the West to broaden the War on Terror to become the War on Procrustean Evil.

Modern terrorism was born within a year, 1967-1968. International socialists (communists) started the fashion all over the world simultaneously, which should make us suspicious about the common roots. National socialists followed suit, turning Marxists of Muslim origin into Islamists of Marxist origin.

As for Islam preserving Western culture, never happened. This is another one of the Western modern urban legends created by politicians and islamic apologists. You are severly lacking in your education on this one.

There are several facts missing: Baathists in Iraq, Saddam's two predicessors and Saddam himself were put in place by the CIA. They replaced the Communists who replaced the king. They also exterminated a large chunk of those who supported the communists in Iraq.

When Soviet troops invaded Afghanistan later the same year, there was only one spontaneous demonstration in Tehran, after which Iran has tamely followed Russia’s actions against neighbouring Muslim people.

Iran's stance had more to do with the fact that Pakistan, it's enemy and surpressor of Shietes, removed the Afghan king in 1973, put in place his cousin and made Afghanistan it's satellite, also surpressing the Shietes there.
