Yes, well the negative campaigning here that Labor is complaining about was basically suggesting that a man who has only been opposition leader for less than a year, and whose biggest previous political experience was as a city Mayor, might just be a little inexperienced to run a country.

I mean, isn't that a horrible thing to suggest...

By the looks of it so far, it seems sanity is returning to our fellow Aussies. Or maybe it was always there and the media were just trying to blow smoke up our collective *sses.

Liberal kingpin Michael Kroeger:
"That's it, the show is over. John Howard has won".

ALP spin doctor:
"Well, disaster is too strong a word".

Oh, I don't know...

7:52 Update

The ritual self disembowelment of the Left has already begun.

TV host:
"The question needs to be asked, would Kim Beazley have done a better job?"

ALP spin doctor:
"Well that's a hypothetical question".

Yes. Yes it is. Along with "What would a Latham government look like"? It appears we shall never know.

And Australian (and New Zealand as well) cities' mayors are apples and oranges when compared with US cities' mayors. Sure, he sits up and rolls the ball for the day, but unlike US cities' mayors he doesn't command police force, education, firefighting, and even "social welfare". All city councillors are as powerful as him in council meetings.
