Hello,
Anyone remember the scene in the book (and movie) Dead Zone? When Johny tries to shoot a politician (that he sees as evil), the politician grabs a child as a shield. A picture is taken and his political career is OVER. Perhaps Kerry's bolting and leaving others to fend for themselves in a dangerous situation is not quite at that level, but I would bet that many voters would be revolted at his selfishness.
