It isn't that they're so liberal .. it's an identification with the democrats. Wasn't Truman president when Israel became a nation in 1948 ..??

No, a very, very stupid and unreasonable assumption.

Sheer hysteria supported only by ignorance, albeit
a superficially "educated" form of it.

About the changing Jewish vote --

I'm reminded of a clever "New Yorker" cartoon I once saw.

Two men sitting in lounge chairs on the beach. One says to the other: "They say Castro's days are numbered. Unfortunately, it appears to be a rather high number."

Why would anyone who is Jewish become a liberal in the first place?

I think that it has to do with brainwashing from birth.

My mother has been pushing the Democratic lever since FDR days. If I try to explain the reasons why Jews should vote for Bush, her mind shuts down and she starts chanting slogans.

It must be some kind of liberal psychotic syndrome.

And show me a so-called "conservative" peddling anti-semitic slurs, as you are here, and I'll more than likely show you another pitiful specimen gibbering about the Vast Jewish International Banking Conspiracy and the *Protocol's of the Elders of Zion*.
Peddle that bilge elsewhere, Zarf. No genuine conservative--or Christian, for that matter--believes a speck of it.

Unfortunately, you're exactly right. It's a tiny pathetic minority who rants in this distasteful manner, but they miss nary a chance to jump into threads and express their thinly-veiled antisemitism. Kinda makes me wonder if they're not DUmmy trolls operating here on a mission to make conservatives look bad.

When I was growing up (raised Methodist, now Baptist), I couldn't really understand the concept of the Jewish people being God's chosen because of their not embracing the New Testament. As I've grown older, the Bible and its prophesis have become more clear and how God's Master plan affects all. We stand side by side (Christians and the Jewish people) in the fight to support the nation of Israel. I can fully understand the reasoning and loyality the Jewish people have given the Democratic ticket because of FDR's administration and it doesn't surprise me that the younger generations are turning to the Republican (conservative) side. May God continue to shed his grace on us.

Shalom!

Hi...Alouette,

You wrote: "I think that it has to do with brainwashing from birth."

You are Right concerning Generational Voting, however, that is only part of it.

I also think that their decision making processes are tainted with a pre-instilled unrealistic FEAR.

Many of our Parents lived through the big Depression and WWII, the Democrats of the 1930's to the 1950's era are certainly NOT the Demon-Rats of Today.

FDR and Truman would be shocked at the DNC and their Minions claiming to be for Democracy when they are really a pack of Anti- G-D, Anti-Life Pro-Death, Anti-American, Anti-Constitution; Anti-Military, Anti - Everything but their own Agenda of SOCIALISM...brought to us by the KENNEDY Clan.

Exhibit # 1...Teddy (The Blow Fish) Kennedy and his Ilk, need I say more?

Sooner or later The TRUTH will always WIN, but Not before we ALL must learn some very costly lessons.

PS: This is one Jewish Lady who is VOTING on NOV 2nd FOR BUSH / CHENEY...

Our TROOPS, Our Families, Our Lives and ISRAEL'S SAFETY AND FUTURE DEPEND ON President Bush being in our Whitehouse for 4 More YEARS!

If you'd like to be on this middle east/political ping list, please FR mail me.

The association Acmedias (auditeurs critiques des medias = critical media spectators) is gathering signatures on a petition relative to the accounting of victims by AFP (Agence France-Presse) in the israeli-palestinian conflict.

The petition and the list of signatures will be given to the members of the council of administration of AFP, which includes nominees of the Prime Minister, of the Minister of Economy and Finances, of the Minister of Industry and of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

As a Jew who made the journey from liberal to conservative twenty-five years ago, I understand the pull of liberalism. It's deeply routed in the psyche and comes from the sense that you are an 'ethnic', even though you are economically successful. Jews still tend to look at themselves as standing apart from the great mass of Americans - not because they want to feel this way, but because of the "Roosevelt" hangover. The identification of ethnics with the Democrat party is still very strong. In addition, there is a strain of communalism in Jews that essentially says we must look out for our fellow Jews. That gets translated into a generalized sympathy for socialist ideas. And at the bottom, they look at someone like James "F** the Jews" Baker, and conclude (very wrongly) that he represents what the real WASP power brokers really think and really say to each other when they think they are not being overheard in their private clubs. Finally, most Jews have not had direct personal experience of the incredible openness, generosity and deep kindness of Christians - especially born-again Christians. That changed my life and turned me around.

... it doesn't even touch on why jews would vote in bigger blocks than blacks for liberal candidates like Hillary who profess their friendship and allegiance for Yassar Arafat.

I don't like Hillary Clinton but she owes no allegiance to Arafat just because she gave his wife a smooch...

What the author is saying is that in spite of all the reasons why Republicans are bad business for domestic issues of import to a conciencious Jew, the war on terror trumps them all and President Bush can handle that and Kerry can't.

The reasons why most Jews are liberal are many and if that just annoys you then there is no way to please you with an extended answer. It is always useless to mix politics and religion.

When I was very young, I remember so clearly sitting on my windowsill listening to the news. The news was about Israel becoming a state. I've never forgotten that moment and how excited I was. My lifelong dream has been to visit Israel. As the years roll by .. that dream has faded, but not my love for Israel.

Oh yeah .. I forgot to mention why I was so excited .. it was because it was also my birthday - May 14th.

They are entitled to what they enjoy...this is America

Then why are you confused? Do Catholics who accept choice confuse you too?

Faith has no place in politics and everyone who uses it should be horse whipped.
