It was the equivalent of Dukakis' 1988 answer to the question about applying the death penalty to the murderer of his wife.

I hate to use several days worth of letters to the editor as an example...but from what I've read in the Mpls StarTribune (aka The Red Star), most letter writers say that hullabaloo over this is a smokescreen by Bush and Cheney to cover their anti-gay sentiments.
If these letters could be characterized as being representative of the GLBT (or their supporters) community in the Twin Cities, they're not planning on switiching their votes any day soon.

I believe many on the left can't stand Kerry for so many reasons. This gives them an "out" (pun untended) to move away from him.

Post debate...his gaff is talked about for five days, he loses ground in the polls but he won the debate.
Maybe it's me but I just don't get the liberal concept of victory.

Like the 1940 Armistice, the French eventually acknowledge the obvious. LOL

""Democrats at debate watching parties gasped in surprise. Wired focus group members across the country displayed an instant negative reaction. Old Democratic political hands, in disbelief, tried to convey their unhappiness to Kerry."I love it. Schadenfreude....

I still wish Mary Cheney would have called a news conference the day after the debate and taken sKerry to task for invasion of privacy. She could have done his campaign in with one news conference. She would have had the sympathy of decent Americans regardless of sexual orientation.

The unbiased AFP describing this Democrat blunder as "brave."
The fact is, no matter how the public feels about sodomy, they think it's not something you discuss on a personal level in public.
