"If Carter had his way we would be a totally socialist country and to be fair, every country would have nuclear weapons."
INDEED ! Let's not forget Jimmy's contribution = A nuclear North Korea.
Jimmy is the poster child for my Tagline.

Billy Carter was a drunk, Jimmie is an idiot. Bush is to blame.

Fantastic logic...Hmmm..had the Germans not walked into France, WWII would not have been necessary either... Actually Germany invaded Poland. Following the invasion the other European powers declared war, making the German invasion of France (via Belgium as always) in some respects a pre-emptive strike.
Some historians suggest that if Hitler could just have fought a war in the East he would have preferred to, but knew it was an impossibility in geopolitical terms. Naturally once he finished in the East he would have turned West anyway.

Jimmy Carter was unnecessary.Actually, Jimmah Carter serves a valuable purpose - he points out what happens if someone with his views actually were to lead this country. Fortunately, the lesson only lasted four years. I don't know if we could have survived eight.

Of course Carter's logic would support a negotiated resolution to the Palestinian issue.
The alternative logic - which is also valid - would indicate that the Palestinians should keep fighting.

Is he aware that Canada was not legitimately its own nation until 1982?

So, uhm, Jimmy Carter is saying it is ok to be an Imperialist Nation? That the Empire just needed to be more sensitive?
Do those rules still apply Jimmy?
Frankly, I'm now completely confused about his world view.
To: marktwain
Carter was elected before there was an internet, at the height of Old Media dominance, just after they had thrown out an elected president in a media coup called "Watergate".Well said!

How about the Civil War? If the whole colonies remained under British Crown the slavery would be abolished earlier without civil war. The whole North America would be one big Canada :)
