I loved Hope but more for what he did for our troops than his comedy. A truly great American.

I loved both his comedy and his dedication to the troops. I enjoyed his movies, but his standup comic routines were priceless. And his delivery and timing was impeccable.

He could deliver the funniest lines with a straight face and also use just expressions to convey a lot. There are not many comedians in his class or with his class.
