Bush is letting them prove what he said all along. There were weapons of mass destruction. The MSM and the Dumocrats said "No there aint"! Now they are saying there were WMDs ,and they are missing. So which is it?

why do you believe CNN? The article also said The whitehouse declined to comment and that was a lie as well. Dan Rather said "the whitehouse declined to comment - at that was a lie - why would CNN tell the truth?

I'm coming in late to this thread so forgive me if it's been posted but I read earlier that Drudge alluded to Rove setting up the NYT on his show Sunday night.

I didn;t hear Drudge myself but other FR posted that Drudge did hint at this.

Could this actually be OUR October surprise?

I don't beleive CNN... I don't believe anything I read anymore, unless I can source it back to the original and/or get an actual transcript.

But the point remains, I have not heard a response from the BUSH CAMP.

And I think we are diluting ourselves if we are waiting for a game winning home run. My optimism hopes for it, but my pragmatism tells me it is not coming.

Hell, Kerry gets to say any damned anything that suits him. He just goes out and sprays the words. The media is just a transcription service for him. OTOH, the MSM lays in wait to ambush the president for any thing that strays off the line. No wonder Bush didn't quite have the debate edge. Hopefully, we chance make a blast back late this week before the media has a chance to twist it all around before 11-2.

Yes, I have hear of strategy and I know when the fish is on the line you let him run. But I believe that this is a major gaff that needs to be pounced on. This late in the campaign, it may not matter to many voters when the truth comes out. At the end of a long campaign the voters start to become tired and will only hear the NYTimes story and never hear the debunk. That is what worries me here.

Dana Lewis was embedded with 101st airborne division in Iraq. He will be on Brit Humes program on Fox News tonight. He is said to tell Brit those explosives in question WERE NOT THERE and they did search the sight.

He needs to hold a press conference or a National address and come out and blow the whistle on these traitors IF the explosives were already missing...PAST IT ON!

I understand the "give him enough rope" argument, but there's a week left here.

You're right, Freestyle. I've changed my mind and think they really need to come out firing. ASAP. At first, I thought by not saying anything it would just make Kerry look like a fool however, I didn't take in that the MSM would completely COVER UP this, even AFTER it's been proven to be a falsehood.

Yeah, and everyone keeps bringing up cBS/Rathergate, but... Rather is still on the air... Scheiffer moderated a debate... and most people don't even know about it. Plus... cBS was still planning to be the vehicle for the Kerry Campaign's October surprise. Someone above said it right... Democrats think Americans are dumber then they really are, republicans think Americans are smarter then they really are. (Probably because we assume others are like ourselves)

"I'm not one of the panic types on here. I've been on here numerous times encouraging people not to panic over the polls. But I do think our guys often bring pocket knives to machine gun fights."

I totally agree - one week left and it's as the Bush/Rove team is just hoping this will "blow over". I kinda feel like when I was watching my Panthers Sunday, trailing by 4 pts, with 4 minutes remaining, 3rd down & 10, ball on the Chargers 25 - and they run the ball up the middle.

BTW, they gained 1 yard on the play, & then, instead of kicking a FG, threw an incomplete pass, loss the ball on downs - Chargers marched down field and scored - game over!

In other words - its getting damn late in the game, to be playing conservative. You can't win the game or a war, for that matter, unless you play offense. It's time to KICK-ASS!

Bush at rally in Pennsylvania:(via Drudge)

"After repeatedly calling Iraq the wrong war, and a diversion, Senator Kerry this week seemed shocked to learn that Iraq is a dangerous place, full of dangerous weapons..."

"If Senator Kerry had his way... Saddam Hussein would still be in power. He would control those all of those weapons and explosives and could share them with his terrorist friends. Now the senator is making wild charges about missing explosives, when his top foreign policy adviser admits, quote, 'We do not know the facts.' Think about that: The senator is denigrating the actions of our troops and commanders in the field without knowing the facts..."

"Our military is now investigating a number of possible scenarios, including that the explosives may have been moved before our troops even arrived at the site. This investigation is important and it's ongoing. And a political candidate who jumps to conclusions without knowing the facts is not a person you want as your commander in chief."

Not exactly the "knock the ball outta the park", "homerun", "October Surprise", that will turn the story around eh?

A good statement... but there is not a person on this planet who can convince me why this should not have been said on the same day that Kerry was able to get the media to repeat his charges... unchallenged on every conceivable news outlet.

Are we still expecting something "big" ?

read this thread possum... Sorry if I just don't believe that Rove has a rabbit in his hat.

I don't know about you, but I found it difficult to "chill" during the month long legal battle for the White house in 2000. But I will look forward to your relaxed and measured posts if we are unfortunate enough to have to go through that crap again. (When we REALLY don't have to... if Americans are as logical as I hope).

He's been saying plenty during his rallies, if the media would cover it. There's an ongoing investigation, so he really can't say more than he's already saying.

I've been hearing clips of him all morning, taking Kerry to the woodshed.
