Ah! Both parties pander to the ethnic minority vote and Kennedy's wife's ethnicity is no more important that Kerry's Jewishness. I keep hearing about the "Jewish" vote, the "Arab" vote, the "Cuban" vote, the "Mexican" vote, etc.... Is this country so far gone that its inhabitants can't just be Americans? If not, maybe the Scottish, German, French, Russian, English, Australian and Irish votes should be separately sought. Yeah! How do you feel about Scotland breaking off from her English oppressors? Whatever America's position should determine my vote? For goodness sake, my people left there 300 years ago! And if you support the Queen's thoroughbreds, I can't vote for y'all!

I was thinking something similar: that you understand who a person is by their friends. I would have included France (who has been invading African countries and supporting islamofascist regimes) and Germany (conveniently forgetting history) as the rise of anti Semitism and support for fascism is very disturbing. I am also at the point in which I am thinking that there is synergy among fascism, socialism and anti semitism. If a party demonizes those who have or have earned money, how can you stop the hate from spilling over into ideas or places the left promises not to return to? But return they do.

Germany hasn't forgotten history. They have become Marxist-pacifists because of it. Only in America does one become pro-terrorist when they are pacifist. I am as close to a pacifist as one can get, probably because of my still-strong Mennonite heritage. I wouldn't think that way except that all of my distant cousins, who I recently contacted with because of geneological research, have nearly identical political/war views. My own Swiss-German ancestors (founders and builders of this country) were called pro-Nazi (and harassed, and interned) because they refused to go to war. They were called pro-England when they refused to fight on the side of the rebels during the Revolutionary War. Before America, they dealt with the same kind of crud. They put their faith in God alone and I respect them for their courage. Now they are thought of as pro-Islamic because they refuse to fight this war. God bless them, because they have always known only Jesus can straighten this mess out.

Sorry for the confusion. You are right, but he is not Irish and Jewish, he now says he is Jewish and not Irish.

Here's the rest of the story. Over 20 years ago that he lied to the press and the people of Massachusetts that he was Irish. Every Irish event, he would holler how Irish he was. He did this for more than 20 years.

When he decided to run for president, he suddenly discovered that he was Jewish and denied that he had ever claimed that he was Irish. The left wing rag The Boston Globe called him on the lying business, which is the only issue here.

I respect your experience and come from a more direct German heritage -- I have a parent that was from Germany. I am very clear on people jumping to the wrong conclusions. My grandfather was arrested for not joining the NSDAP, which translated is the National Socialist Democratic Workers Party.

From my direct experience when visiting Germany, it was very clear that there is a) an intense need to control b) a more established class warfare mentality c) a taboo to talk about the Third Reich and what happened as it was so painful and there is absolutely no understanding that the Germans cannot expect empathy from non German victims of the holocaust. Because it's not been talked about much, because there is a lot of finger pointing to the Germans, there is an equal and opposited reaction of denial about the holocaust and frustration that they don't get off the subject outside of Germany. Diplomatically, Germans do not know how to listen well enough to resolve emotional conflicts with others. Trust me, there are nice Germans, but listening comprehension is in big trouble in their diplomatic circles.

d) World wide there is little to no understanding of the closeness that there was to the policies of fascist Germany and old style communist countries. Each demonized and yet worshiped money. Each hunted down the alleged perpetrators who had it not as individuals, but by class. It was only a matter of time that hatred of money translated into anti semitism as money was dirty and finance was almost all that Jews were allowed to do. Note how feudal the concept. This certainly explains the appeal France, Belgium and Germany have to the islamofascists.

Back to Germany in the 30s -- Nazis did badly whenever the econony started to rise. When the austrian tyrant seized power in 33, the first thing he did was to arrest the socialist leaders. So he could go after their party members' votes. And this is what he did.

Anyway, back to Germany today--Nazism was deminimus about 1% until reunification. When the East Germans were liberated, while they had gone through hell and back, came away with an ongoing hatred of those who hold or earn cash. Add to it the socialist policies that caused the economy to take a huge nosedive and the offer from Saddam (who modeled himself after Hitler) to sell cheap oil and perhaps buy military products (yes, there were many German companies on the oil for food list) And there it is

No question. But it only became an issue because Kerry suddenly discovered that he had some Jewish forebears. Kind of like Hillary remembering a Jewish step grandfather only after she had spent more than 20 years bashing Israel and supporting Palestinian radicals (historians say that this was non negotiable for her). Neither of them appear to really mean it. I could find a little respect for either of them if they really meant that they were believers.
