BARF isn't an acronymn; it's a synonym for "vomit", as in "This story is enough to make you sick."

BARF = (verb) vomit, upchuck, puke, regurgitate, lose-one's-lunch.

Sometimes it can be a noun.

BTW, I have a very uptight sister who, when she hears what are to her, "disgusting words" will automatically barf. :-)
