BOSTON (AP) -- At the end, John Kerry looked for a little luck to carry him through.

Upon his return to Massachusetts after more than five weeks of nonstop campaigning, Kerry bent over and touched the ground. He ate his traditional election-day lunch of littleneck clams and a dark beer at his lucky restaurant, Boston's historic Union Oyster House.

He was loaded down with other charms - a four-leaf clover, an Ohio buckeye, Bruce Springsteen's guitar pick, his hat from Vietnam, a Bible from former Sen. Max Cleland, rosary beads, a cross and a medal of St. Christopher, the patron saint of travelers. He had been to church three times in the two days before the election.

After months of campaigning, the choice was out of his hands.

So AP now thinks of a cross as a "lucky charm"?

Figures.

And they complained about Nancy Reagan.

Well tomorrow John Kerry can go back to being himself. He put up a very good fake front and remained "the lie" to the very end, unchallenged by the press. But tomorrow the gig is up.

Placing you faith in talisman and empty ritual I do believe is mocking and offense to G-d

It's funny because I was just contemplating these kind of empty ritual we do or not do because we fear it will jinxes things when it came to be as clear as a bell "let your yes be yes and your no be no" pray to G-d as you would speak to G-d... all else is an insult

Yep....Kept that hat and a few of the ears he lopped off for good luck. And none of it will do any good.

Bad clams would be nice for the chowder head.

I have had the same feeling all day. I got to the polling station at 6:00am just to be the 8th in line. As you would expect, everyone was rather quiet. I on the other hand cant keep my mouth shut, so I started talking to the deputy on duty. He was a retired Sarasota deputy and had a great personality. He got us all talking and come to find out, about the first 25 or 30 of us in line were all there to help "W" take it in Sarasota county. It was a great time at the precinct this morning, I hope it continues thru this evening.

Yeow, rosary beads and a cross certainly aren't good luck charms!
