Last night, the children of the Reagan revolution watched as the dream of the shining city on a hill came closer, and no, no one...not even Reagan, ever said that the realization of the American dream would be easy. Nor has anyone of merit ever claimed that guarding freedom would be anything less than a monumental, and ongoing, task...the enemies of freedom will never be truly defeated.
Who are those enemies?
The left certainly, but complacency and apathy are the enemies as well; enemies both foreign and domestic can easily be translated to enemies within and without.
Having said all that, I believe that we deserve to celebrate, and to bond together under the banner of the GOP. Only working together as one entity can we affect lasting change; finding common grounds as Republicans, Libertarians and conservatives in order to stem back socialism is imperative.
I don't agree with your statement that "no one is making a serious effort to stem the massive numbers of illegal immigrants who are streaming across our borders." We stopped one million at the border last year, and that shows effort.
Can we do better?
Everything can be improved and done better, what we can't do is belittle the effort of those men and women who are risking their lives day and night watching our borders because we do not think that the results are as satisfactory as we would want them to be.
Today is a day to celebrate the good battle fought, and the answered prayers of so many good Americans, and tomorrow...tomorrow belongs to the children of the Reagan revolution.
It's interesting how you picked out one bone of contention in an excellent post and didn't talk hardly at all about the great points she made.
