Yes, I think Bush will probably wait. The media is not a certifying body, but it believes itself to be so, and unfortunately, most people also believe this.
Whether they like it or not, we've won, and Bush has plenty of time to savor his victory.
I realize that the media is not a certifying body. The media does none the less legitimize the reality that is victory. If one of the networks had declared Bush the winner this morning, each of the other networks would have done so and Bush would have been the defacto winner, with the facts following along behind, Kerry resigning as he should.
It occurs to me that the media doesn't want to declare such a victory. They are essentially avoiding it with fervor.
The longer they can drag this out, the better they'll poll.
If they don't get off their duffs and declare Bush the winner, I'm going to turn them off and leave them off until Bush is declared the winner. So much for ratings.
The press in any advanced state, is the legitimizing body that presents the winner to the public and creates the reality that sees that person accepted by the public.
I realize this is kindof an etherial process, but I think it is true.
