It's really funny hearing Democrats and left wing losers like John "Crushed" Kerry and members of the mainstream press talk about the need for President Bush to "reach out" to them, and "uniting" the country. Yes, the President gave it lip service in his speech, but he had to do that and we hope he's not serious about it, at least in the way they mean it. We don't operate under such restrictions and niceties.
We see no need to make conciliatory gestures towards the losers. None whatsoever. If Election Day taught us anything is that America is a conservative country. Hell, even the New York Times went so far today as to call it a "center-right" country. We wonder how long the editors had to ponder and/or choke on that one.
And the not-so-hidden meaning behind their request to "unite" the country is for the President to adopt liberal views (or as liberals like to call them-"moderate views"). Knowing that won't happen the what they're really saying is "Don't try to accomplish your "radical" agenda." In liberalspeak "radical" means "conservative".
Our response to this plea (which we hope the President shares) is simple - "Screw You".
History, and the wisdom of the American people, have offered George W. Bush a rare moment in history to push a distinctly conservative domestic agenda on various issues. The window will not be open forever and the opportunity should be seized, and seized quickly. We said before the election that we would offer the President friendly advice if he won, which we are glad he did. So the celebration is over (Well, almost).
Anyway today begins a new chapter, and we're going to start it with out advice on what to do now, and most importantly the domestic agenda items that need to be passed NOW.
First and foremost, we see no need for the President or the GOP to waste one second "reaching out" to the Democratic party or trying to make the mainstream media like them. Leave this vanquished and defeated foe on the field of battle with no concern for their well being or feelings.
Let them clean up their own blood and figure out what we knew years ago - that until they jettison the radical left of their party then they will end up a regional party, if they're not there already. Don't send help to rescue them or be good Samaritan. Strike while the iron's hot, and before people start digging in their heels for 2006, and start considering you a "lame duck" in 2007 and 2008.
The important thing here is to do accomplish as much conservative "shock and awe" in the coming months so that when the Democrats finally do figure out where they have to go to become relevant again, the battle is already over. There a few specific items we feel are most ripe to accomplish at this time, especially with 55 GOP Senators. Yes, there's the filibuster rules and the RINO's, but now is the time to really make the best effort to do what needs to be done so that these vital domestic agenda items are enacted. We list them here in no particular order.
1. Personal Social Security Accounts Long just a twinkle in the eye of conservatives, this brass ring, or at least a part of itt may finally be within reach. We don't think it's reasonable that the whole system will be changed in 2 or even 4 years. The monster was built over 60 years and won't be torn down overnight. But that doesn't mean some advances couldn't be made here, such as test programs for private accounts (much like happened with MSA's, the precursor to today's Health Savings Accounts). Want a way to get young voters on your side for the next 40 years? Do something tangible and public that will get them thinking you are aware of the problem and want to solve it. Most young people don't think social security will be around for them, and this is actually an issue they care about. How much does it cost? Who cares. Whatever it is it's nothing compared to the cost of the system collapsing entirely, or taking up 1/2 of the federal budget in the coming years.
2. Judicial Appointments We wrote about this yesterday with an analysis of how to get the judges to a Senate floor vote. For the President, getting a whole generation of young, conservative jurists on the bench, especially the in the appellate courts is a way for him to leave a legacy, and shape the course of the nation long after he is gone. Hopefully that will include 2 or 3 Supreme Court nominees. Further, in looking ahead inevitably there will come a time (although we hope it doesn't) where these conservative jurists will be the last protection against a loony left President or Congress that can hold the fort till the good guys get back in power. Think now about how the left thanks God for the judicial tyrannists they put on the bench under Carter and Clinton. Let's do the same to them. Just in case.
3. Make the tax cuts permanent The signature domestic policy of the first term were the two tax cuts. However, because of numbers issues in the Senate (a/k/a the GOP RINO Senators like Chafee, Specter, Snowe and Collins) those tax cuts had a "sunset" provision, allowing them to lapse over the next few years. That means a future tax hike, no matter what word games the Democrats and RINO's play. Given the new numbers, it's possible we could ignore the Chicken Little complaints of those weak hearted souls. There is no better way to grow the economy (and the markets) than to make the tax cuts permanent. Do it and watch the markets soar because of the future certainty of tax rates. And doing so would also make it harder for a subsequent Democratic Congress to change it, because instead of letting the tax cuts "expire" they would be forced to actively raise the tax rates, as opposed to doing nothing. That's a huge political difference.
4. ANWR Drilling Not only is this smart energy policy, and a way to reduce fuel costs, it would drive the left wing absolutely nuts. Quite honestly, even if doing this didn't lower prices a penny we'd want to see this done just because it would show everyone the lunatic fringe of the environmental movement supporting the Democrats. ANWR is more than a desolate wasteland just begging (as are the Alaska residents) just dying to be explored. It is a symbol to the left of all they hate about us, and to lose it would be like taking a chunk of their soul. We like the sound of that. Plus, doing so would create thousands of jobs, which doesn't hurt come election time.
5. Tort Reform We don't think they'll be a better opportunity to enact legislation to curb lawsuit abuse, especially in the area of class action suits. As conservatives we think the issues of jury award limits, etc. should be left to the individual states. But the issue of class action suits and jury caps in federal cases is an important first step in putting the brakes on an out of control legal system that is not only harming our economy, but contributes to the "sue first" mindset in our culture.
6. Curbing Non-defense Discretionary Spending OK, we know this is a pipe dream. Much to our chagrin, the GOP has shown itself to be just as profligate with our money as the Democrats were. We see no change in the Washington mindset that spending money like a drunken sailor is the way to stay in power. Sadly, the President has fallen short here as well with an expansion of federal spending on education and the monstrosity known as the Prescription Drug Bill But the President has said that he would get out the veto pen for such Congressional pork. Here's hoping that just wasn't empty rhetoric and that being free of re-election worries he really can cut spending.
Well, that's our advice on where to start. We're sure there's more we could come up with, and in a later article we will deal with them. But for now this is sufficient. Just make sure you get it done and done quick so they don't know what hit them. It's time to make your mark here in a big way people will remember for a long time. Now get to it. Let's make VP Cheney's remark today about having a "mandate" reallymean something.

All the jibberish about 55 million people voted against Bush, Bush is the divider, what is Bush going to do to pull us together is nonsense. They think that we've become timid after 2 decades of their relentless pounding of us as intolerant, uninformed, uneducated, bigots. We need to pound the message that we are the middle, those who lost have become the kook fringe.

Nothing wrong with the winner "reaching out" to the losers, and asking them to get on board. They ARE the losers, and if they want to fall in line behind the President, it will be good for the country.
That's not the same thing as moving over to the loser's position.
But with these guys, I hope the President doesn't leave that hand out there too long. When dealing with snakes, putting your hand out, is just offering a convenient target.
Onward with the conservative agenda: return this country to it's righteous roots.
No more Mr. Nice guy with these democrat losers.
If they had won there would be no talk about "healing".
