Chirac visits Arafat at hospital
From correspondents in Paris
November 5, 2004

FRENCH President Jacques Chirac visited Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in hospital today.

Mr Chirac's visit was very brief and he apparently left in a half hour. His office did not release further information. He arrived in an official motorcade of several cars and did not speak to reporters.

There have been conflicting reports surrounding Mr Arafat's condition, with one senior Palestinian official saying that he had lapsed into a coma. But some of Arafat's aides have denied that he is comatose.

Mr Chirac "saw Yasser Arafat and his wife, to whom he expressed his best wishes," the president's office said.

Mr Chirac also met members of the Palestinian Authority who were present and doctors "who are doing everything possible for the health of the (Palestinian) president".

French television station LCI quoted an anonymous French medical source saying Mr Arafat was in an "irreversible coma" and "intubated" - a process that involves threading a tube down the windpipe to the lungs, often to connect a respirator.

Be sure to remember events such as this when France claims to be in opposition of terror, and tries to convince the world that it is a worthy and honorable member of the international community.

Incredible! One, the he lets this murderer into the country for medical treatment. And two, that he treats him as a head of state when he is nothing but a murdering thieving thug!

Why are we distinguishing between terrorists and the nations that harbor them?

Mr Chirac "saw Yasser Arafat and his wife, to whom he expressed his best wishes," the president's office said.

That is, he may have expressed his best wishes to Arafat's wife, who is still alive.

What's even more important to remember is that Arafat was the most frequent foreign "dignitary" visitor to the White House during Bill Clinton's presidency. (Frankly, I'm surprised Clinton is not at Arafat's bedside right now.)

The US Democrat Party is as deep in bed with international terrorists as are the French socialists.
